13 Pax: Peg Leg, Blades of Glory, Thor, Invictus, Cheap Seats, Golden Pond, Crowd Source, Speed Square, Ozark, House Party, Kickstand, Unicycle, Swiper

QIC:  Swiper

4:38 am Pre Run: Swiper

It all started the day before when Unicycle and Kickstand mentioned they would start at 4:25a with a 10k that Kickstand owed for some sort of debt to Unicycle.  They started recruiting on Slack and pulled me in, including some others.  I started recruiting Northerners and some Westerners.

The morning hits and it looks like weather is coming in.  I have my Gortex under my seat in the back.  I have my alarm set and its early.  I leave Shadow Lake around 4:05.  I am already running behind.  So I hit a message out to the Slack running group that I am running a few minutes late.  I get to Zipline at 4:30a  and there are no cars.  It’s pouring rain and lightening.  I check slack.  Kickstand and Unicycle both said they were not running early.  About a minute later a big work truck rolled up.  The window came down, amidst the pouring rain, a friendly face:  Unicycle!  He leaned over and said, “I am NOT going!”…..ugh……the lightening cracked.  I sat in my car for about 7-8 minutes stewing about how early I got up to sit here.  The lightening stopped, and I messaged out, that I was heading out and I would come back at 4:55a for the normal pre runners.  It was 4:38a.  I saw a few cars at the Maize which was great, humans are showing up!  I pre pre ran a couple miles and looped back, and there was a good group of pre runners.

4:55 am Pre Run:  Swiper, Ozark, Crowd Source, Cheap Seats

5:39 am I welcomed the Pax to F3 – reminding them of the mission to Plant, Serve and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.   He also mentioned that they were an International Organization now.

I then covered the 5 core principles of F3.  1) Open to ALL men. 2.  Always Free.  3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).

There were no FNGs today.

I reminded the PAX that I am not a professional.  Modify as necessary, especially today with the storms looming and what I had planned.  From this point forward there is a real risk of injury.

Finally I said our Credo is that we leave no man behind, but we leave no man where we found him.  I like to do a lot of String of Pearls type workouts and we would circle back for the six each time we mosey.

I instructed the Pax we would head South, let’s roll.

5:20am Warm-a-rama

  • We mosey’d south on 203rd plaza and down Atlas and across F to the roundabout for WAR.
    • 10 Tater Taps IC
    • 10 Windmills IC
    • 5 Motivators IC – I called one Pax out for screwing up the cadenance and then I screwed it up a round later.  Karma is a “you know what”

5:28 Pre Thang 1 – Running

  • I advised the Pax to get into Groups of three of similar speed.  We ran east up G St and took a right on S HWS Cleveland Blvd.  We stopped at the roundabout at L St.  Each man would do 20 Maverick Merkins.  Then the group would switch each Pax.
  • Mosey East to 194th St.  Another 20 Maverick Merkins per Pax.
  • Mosey North to the Baseball field parking lot and 20 more Maverick Merkins per man.

5:45 Thang – Sprints

  • We would sprint down the lot.  15 Derkins.
  • Sprint Back.  20 Derkins
  • Sprint Back. 25 Derkins
  • Sprint Back. 20 Derkins.  About this time Ozark looked at me and said, I know you told me we would head to the Maize at 6:15, that’s when we both realized we had our timing off a bit!  It was 5:55 am.  “Let’s Mosey!”
  • We got back to Maize parking lot as they were doing Core.  Perfect!

5:55am 6 MOM

  • 13 Sarpy Slammers, Rancid Style

5:58am NOR

  • The Name-a-rama was completed – see above for list of those who posted.  It was during the NOR that I released that Blades Of Glory and Thor were there.  I

COT

The Maize was hosted by 3 Redwoods, Wait Time, Tonight Show and Rollbar.  So I told the folks we were going to go to the Maize for their COT, its not often you get to see three Redwoods together giving a COT, it was awesome!  We got another mile in and ran back to the Labyrinth Flag and headed off to coffee.  Many pax changed to get dry!

The Tonight Show took us out in Prayer.
