5:30 am Now this is a day, I have planned for a long, long time. May The Fourth. I announced the day prior that we would go East and hit Crest hill, as I wanted to stop a little short to get dressed. The Steel Mill starts pumping its Star Wars Tunes. So I click on mine. Then I appear in my full Darth Vader, now Darth Swiper costume. And I begin my monologue. I then covered the 5 core principles of F3. 1) Open to ALL men (Even you Scumbags and Space Junkies). 2. Always Free. 3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).

There were no FNGs today or new stormtrooper recruits.  No New Padawans.

I reminded the PAX that I am not a professional.  Modify as necessary.  From this point forward there is a real risk of injury.

Finally I said our Credo is that we leave no scumbag behind, but we leave no man in the Cantina either.

I explained that we would do 2 maximum exercises and then run a loop.  First would be pull ups and then your choice or Merkins exercise, as many as you can do.   Then run either the Jedi Path (around by Papio Bay) or the Padawan Path, around The Duck Pond.  Next time back, you would do Leg Tucks, and then a different Merkin exercise of your choice.  Run a loop, then back to Pull Ups, a different merkin, etc.

I undressed from Darth Swiper for the beatdown.

After having some fun with May The Fourth fun, I took the group through some interesting facts that I found about Star Wars.

  1.  The word “Ewok” is never actually spoken out loud in the films

We all know what to call the furry creatures of Endor, and most people would probably assume we heard the word from our favourite protocol droid C-3PO. Turns out it’s another piece of popular culture that we’ve been remembering incorrectly. However, the word does appear in the final credits of Return of the Jedi.

2. The line “I have a bad feeling about this” is in every movie

The line has become a beloved running gag to all. It does vary slightly each time, but the sentiment is always the same. The expression was first uttered by Luke Skywalker in A New Hope, and most recently by BB-8 in The Last Jedi. Han Solo was the most sensitive to potential impending doom, as he said it more times than anybody else.

3. Jar Jar Binks is responsible for the destruction of the Jedi

There’s a whole list of reasons as to why he’s the most disliked character in the Star Wars universe. But there’s one that’s forgotten by many – the fact that he directly handed Palpatine the means to execute Order 66. Jar Jar Binks gave a passionate speech to the Galactic Senate and persuaded them to vote in favour of giving the Chancellor emergency powers. That gave Palpatine the power to overthrow the Senate and almost wipe out every living Jedi with one move. Great work Jar Jar.

4. Yoda and The Muppets’ Miss Piggy are voiced by the same person

Frank Oz, and English-born puppeteer, actor and filmmaker was the voice of both Yoda and Miss Piggy, as well as other on-screen icons like the Cookie Monster.

5.  Who has the best Army is Star Wars History:

Army Ranking (only on tournament wins)

Place Army Victories

1. Empire 101

2. Rebels 98

3. Separatists 83

4. Galactic Republic 54

5. Shadow Collective 35

Total: 371

6. The tradition Kessel Run is 20 Parsecs.  Han Solo, piloting the Millennium Falcon, made the infamous run in slightly over 12 parsecs, boasting about his ship’s ability to endure shorter but more hazardous routes through hyperspace.

What does making the Kessel run in 12 parsecs mean?

Because the shortened Kessel Run spans 12 parsecs (39.6 light-years), a ship traveling nearly light-speed would take a little more than 39.6 years to get there.

parsec (which equals 3.26 light-years) is defined as the distance at which a star will show an annual parallax of one arcsecond.

I took us out in prayer.

We met across the road at Dagobah for coffee. I kept up on training.

Aye! Swiper
