11/10/2018. Oracle AO | Winter Quarters aka First National Parking Garage PAX: 21  Gipper, Room Service, Gaga, Tonight Show, Biggie Smalls, Selleck, Mayhem, The Big One, Waffle House (Respect), Borland, The Plague,  Ponzi, Placebo, Lemon Law, Grease Monkey, Dufresne, Tater Tot, Wait Time, No Doze, Dufner, TC (Respect and welcome back to the gloom, brother)

QIC: No Doze

Weather:  13 degrees, 6 degree wind chill.  Once again, basically perfect weather for a No Doze Q.

YHC arrived at 6:40 to plant the shovel flags. Borland was the lone car in the parking lot, and the temperature reading – which dropped by 5 degrees from my garage to the AO – made me fear that Borland and I may be the only HIM accelerating today. YHC left the comfort of his auto to ensure Winter Quarters were free of black ice, vehicles, and security. My face warmer disturbed an early morning bank employee trying to get in a couple hours of work before Husker kickoff.  He did not get out of his car for a few minutes, but given my appearance and clear obliviousness to the cold, he was rightly intimidated.  With the feeling rapidly escaping my digits, Borland assisted with planting the flags, and at precisely 6:59:59 a.m. 17 more Omaha PAX arrived.

Mission statement and disclaimer were given. Disclaimer included a reminder to doff the second or third layer to avoid overheatin. No Doze welcomed the PAX to Randorama – a series of seemingly disjointed exercises done at a rapid pace.  T-Claps given to TC, our lone Veteran posting today and a reminder that an hour in the cold is nothing compared to sacrifice men and women in uniform make to protect our freedoms.  YHC announced that all running would be Peacock style) and that “Play it Cool” was to be announced for every car driving by the beatdown in the garage (aka Al Gore pose and act as if reading the paper).  The PAX played it really cool approximately 3-4 times.

Mosey (Peacock style with hands on head) up three decks and down two (a Paula Abdul if you will) for Warm-o-Rama.  Like, we literally had to warm up – it was cold, see supra.

The PAX remained in a Circle of Pain for Part 1 of The THANG:

Part 1 –Failure to Launch

PAX held a 10 count Al Gore pose in honor of the 45th VP, former US Rep and Senator, inventor of the internet, husband of Mary Elizabeth aka Tipper, and freakin’ Nobel Peace Prize winner.  PAX the blasted off and returned to Al Gore pose.  5 Reps.

Pax then partnered up and did 25 partner shrugs followed by 5 surfer merkins.  Followed by 2-3 more reps of failure to launch.  YHC lost count a lot as, again, it was really cold.

The Pax remained in the circle of pain for Part 2 of The THANG:

Part 2 – Global Warming

PAX remained in Al Gore pose and shuffled slowly counter-clockwise.  20 merkins.  Al Gore shuffle clockwise.  5 burpees.  Shuffle counter-clockwise.  10 mountain climbers IC.  Mumble chatter (or teeth chatter) was in abundance when YHC announced we would rinse and repeat . . . which we did. Global warming induced far more mumble chatter than anticipated.

Mosey peacock style to the first level deck for Part 3:

Part 3 – William Wallace

The PAX split into four groups and went to each corner of the deck.  Each member of the group ran to the middle and performs 10 reps of the designated exercise while the rest of the group performs an exercise.  Each member must run Peacock style to the middle and return Peacock style before the group goes to the next exercise.

YHC called Omaha just in time for a Superman Sun God.  PAX assumed Superman pose while rotating arms forward (Yellow Sun) and backward (Red Sun).  Biggie Smalls noted that YHC’s arms weren’t actually moving.  Little did he know I could not feel my arms.  YHC then turned over the Q to TC for a high-positivity  plankorama  6 MoM:

Reverse plank, pickle thrusts(?), right plank, left plank, pickle pushers, more reverse plank and thrusts, LBCs, and American Hammer.  Six minutes without stopping all to the BEAT.

Close/Thought for the Day: YHC encouraged PAX to take COT to heart.  Listen to what is said and incorporate it into your daily prayer, study, reflection, etc.  The Big One’s Q at the Handicap and his reminder that we are role models for our children, nieces, and nephews and to not sweat the small stuff led me to the QSource entry regarding Shorties:

The HIM’s relationship with his children is unique in a critical way. It is the one connection that can never be fully severed. He can quit his job and get a new one. He can divorce his wife and remarry. But every child he has remains his child forever regardless of how far he may roam, how distant he may become or how many other children he may have. A man may depart from his children, but he cannot quit them. While he may hide from them physically or emotionally his responsibility for them is eternal, as will be the consequences if commits relationship malpractice in their upbringing. The seeds of discontent sown by the ineffective father will yield a legacy of damaged fruit. The IMPACT (for good or bad) that a man has on his children cannot be underestimatedThe quality of a man’s relationship with his children them defines the quality of their relationships with everyone else for the rest of their lives. If he is absent, they will be distrustful. If he is capricious, they will be unjust. If he is cold, they will be withdrawn. But, if he is present, just and warm the HIM will have imprinted upon his children’s hearts a template of relational success upon which they can rely throughout their lives. They will in turn pass it on to their children. In this way, the IMPACT is infinite.

So, it actually wasn’t that cold.  It was actually far preferable to those 95 degree days in July.  It will be colder and I will be out there.  I wouldn’t have been out there a year ago, and I think that’s true for a lot of us.  Keep accelerating and getting faster and stronger – rain or shine, heat or cold.

Aye!
