I welcomed the PAX on a beautifully cool morning at 0515. We covered F3’s Mission Statement, 5 Core Principles, and our Creedo. I informed the PAX that I am not a professional and to modify today’s workout as necessary. There were not any FNGs.

I informed the PAX that today’s beatdown would be a string of pearls and that the goal would be to cover some mileage. At this point in time, Truck Stop promptly removed his weighted vest. We skipped Warm-O-Rama and immediately moseyed east up Main Street. Our first stop was at the First United Methodist Church where we completed:

·         20 Merkins, 20 Air Squats, 20 LBCs

We continued our run eastbound up Main Street to Springfield’s new elementary school. We ran to the ball field where half the PAX completed 20 Dips on the benches, while the other did 20 Alternating Lunges then swapped. We moseyed to the basketball court to complete 20 Big Boys so we didn’t have to lay in the wet grass.

The PAX turned south for the run, running across Main Street to the parking lot of Saint Joseph Catholic Church at 9th and Main Street. We completed:

·         20 Werkins, 20 Monkey Humpers, 20 Freddie Mercuries

We left the parking lot, continuing southbound, turned right on Maple St, a quick right on 8th Street Circle and another quick left onto the path that enters into Buffalo Park. The PAX ran through a dark Buffalo Park where we stopped at the parking lot on the western edge of the park. The PAX completed:

·         20 Carolina Dry Docks, 20(ish) Step-Ups, 20 Flutterkicks

We left the parking lot, running south on 6th Street and then turned right on Spruce Street to finally enjoy a nice downhill mosey. We stopped for a final time at a parking lot at 1st Street and Spruce Street to complete:

·         20 Diamond Merkins, 20 Sumo Squats, 20 Low Dollys

We were about out of time so the PAX completed the beatdown by running north along 1st Street, back to the shovel flags. The PAX circled up to complete 24 Sarpy Slammer IC. In the end, most PAX ended the beatdown with somewhere around 3 miles give or take a quarter mile.

Today was my one-year anniversary beatdown, plus one day. Or as Skidz called it, “The Encore.” I talked about how anniversaries are something to celebrate and to take a moment to recognize them. The anniversary may be with your significant other, maybe it is a work anniversary, maybe it is a sobriety milestone. We can celebrate anniversaries for a number of things, but it is important to also reflect on the journey that got you to that anniversary or milestone. If we’re celebrating an anniversary, it’s usually because it is something important to us and the journey was likely no piece of cake. After you take the time to celebrate your accomplishment, make sure to remain disciplined and to continue focusing on the process as you move forward.

I took the group out in prayer.

Aye!
