COT: DON’T NEGLECT YOUR THIRD F LEADERSHIP
Last week, Frosty delivered a very profound COT at Paradise Island. Frosty spoke about his growth in the Third F. The COT really made an impact on me. He shared about his growth in Third F book studies, and how he and his M partnered together to find a church. I set a goal this year to find my own church home.
Frosty’s COT helped me see how I have neglected some of my leadership in the Third F space with my family. Last Thanksgiving, I had a great conversation with my daughter about God. When she was a little girl, she enjoyed going to church and was more connected with God. Since moving to Omaha, we have never really had a church home and she’s had very little exposure to a higher power. On the other hand, my parents are fundamentalist Christians. They have very strong beliefs, and they’ve questioned how I have led my family around church.
What I have come to realize, I have neglected my leadership in this space. Everyone has their own spiritual journey, but it is easy to simply neglect your spirituality if you are not intentional. My daughter’s skepticism has come to roost. She’s a teenager now. She’s like a lot of teenagers – and seems to have little interest in what I think about any topic these days.
As a RESPECT PAX member, I just feel compelled to encourage my brothers to be intentional with the Third F in the same way they are intentional with fitness and fellowship. Those with younger kids have a window of opportunity when children’s minds are open. I know that my daughter is own her own spiritual journey and there will be a day when she will be more open to talk with me about it.
To be clear, this is not purely about going to church. This is about how we are intentional with our spiritual growth as men. Neglect in the Third F is has the same negative consequences as neglect with our fitness and our fellowship with other men. I could have been more intentional over these last few years, and I now have an opportunity to be a more virtuous leader in the area of faith. I am grateful for high impact men like Frosty who motivate me to grow. It is never too late.
We ended the workout with a prayer.
Grace & Peace,
Wait Time
