YHC greeted 13 high impact men for a Block Party at the Grove Park. Today celebrates 52 years on this planet. That is a sobering statement. We covered all the important values that define F3Omaha – the mission statement, the five principles, credo and the disclaimer [including “for the next 45 minutes, I am not your friend].
We moseyed up the street without our coupons for the Warm-A-Rama.

The workout was completed TABETA style. Each exercise was AMRAP for 45 seconds with an eight second rest between each exercise. We completed nearly two rounds of the beatdown:

CIRCLE OF TRUST: PHILIA “BROTHERLY LOVE”
When I was a fifth grader, I began the football season with a new football coach. Back in those days, kids practiced in their dad’s old t-shirts. In 1981, my dad went to the Final Four in Philadelphia to see the Hoosiers win the title. (Go Hoosiers!) While he was there, he bought “Philadelphia” t-shirts, so I started the football season wearing Dad’s “Philadelphia” t-shirt. From that day forward, my coach only ever called me “Philadelphia.” I don’t think he ever knew my real name.
This COT is definitely not about Mufasa, or his hometown of “Philadelphia.” The COT is about the root word of “Philadelphia.” The Greek word philia means brotherly love. In English, we use one word to describe “Love.” There are at least eight different words in the Greek language that represent love. There is Eros, Philia, Mania, Agape just to name a few of those words. In English, I might say that: I love the Hoosiers. I love hot wings. I love my kids. I love burpees. I love my girlfriend. I love you guys.
Today, on my birthday I am grateful to be surrounded by “PHILIA,” because it describes the love that I have for my F3 brothers. Philia means camaraderie that happens between brothers in arms. It is about loyalty to friends. Philia is about sacrificing for your brother and sharing emotions with them. I am deeply grateful for the PHILIA that exists in my life. None of it would be possible without F3.
