Ta Ha Zouka Park – Rainy, Hot and Humid
It was one of those mornings that made for a great “fartsack” day. I woke up to a couple text messages informing me a couple PAX were going to stay home as it was lighting and raining. I texted them back and said “can I stay home too”. It was a very rainy morning but I knew I had to go out and made a commitment to Hei Hei and T Swift to do a 4 mile pre run. So I met them both at 445 and we did the damn thing, rain, lighting and all : )
As we circled back on our pre run to the flags for a short “poop” break. Thanks T Swift we noticed Yodel was in the parking lot. I casually ran over to his car and encouraged him to finish the pre run with us and he politely declined …. Haha.
Lastly, we started with a very small group but we got wind that the disco was going to forgo their ultimate frisbee due to the weather conditions so we got an influx of “Disco” PAX last minute. It was good to see all of them.
PAX – Blades of Glory, Golden Pike, Speed Bump, Tea Party, Old Spice, Baby Shoes, Scoober, T Swift, Lansbury, Hei Hei, Yodel, Back Country, Vesba, and Cheap Seats.
I greeted the PAX and recited our Mission and Credo.
The Mission of F3 is to plant, grow, and serve small men’s workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.
5 Core Principles: 1) It’s free; 2) open to all men; 3) always held outdoors; 4) peer led in a rotating fashion; and 5) ends in a circle of trust.
Lightening was all around us as we started warm-o-rama and several PAX were nervous but we decided to give the workout a go.
Warm-o-rama
I had our man Yodel lead us in 10 Yodelvators.
We then moseyed to the first parking lot to the East of the park by the football field. Here we did a series of stretching and warm ups to get everybody loosened up.
We then hit the practice football field to complete a crowd pleaser. We went up to 7. The only difference on his crowd please is we did diamond merkins in place of regular merkins.
1 merkin to 1 groiner
2 merkins to 2 groiners
3 merkins to 3 groiners
4 merkins to 4 groiners
5 merkins to 5 groiners
6 merkins to 6 groiners
7 merkins to 7 groiners
And then back down the elevator to 1 merkin and 1 groiner.
During the crowd pleaser we experience 2 heavy lightening strikes. After we completed this the group decided to call the workout (about 17 min in).
We all then moseyed back to the flags.

COT
My theme of the workout was around STRESS. I explained to the PAX how the last 2 months (May and June) were some of the most stressful months in recent memory. I had 5 work trips and 1 personal vacation in the past 60 days and combining that with coaching 3 kids activities was taking a toll on me and my relationship with my M.
I informed the PAX that a good stress relief for me was having quality time with M (not in the way you would expect … right T Swift : ). I just let them know that my Shieldlock has been pushing me to have more meaningful conversations with my M about my stress and work and I’ve been able to do that. It’s really put us in a good place over the last 2 weeks and I encourage all the PAX to connect more with their M’s, 2.0s and even friends or F3 dudes.
F3 continues to help me even after being in almost 3 years. I couldn’t be more grateful to this group!
