Q: Black Tuesday

12 PAX:  Busser, Levy, OG Kick Stand, Ear Tag, Low Flow, Razzle Dazzle, Chernobyl, Gipper, Crankbait, Schrute, Trench, Black Tuesday

5:30 AMLarge pre-run group and a parallel group doing Pre-pull-ups (Chernobyl) and Pre-Merkins (Crankbait)

6:00 AM: Black Tuesday welcomed the Pax to F3 – reminding them of the F3 Mission: Plant, Grow and Serve small workout groups of men for the invigoration of male community leadership.

Black Tuesday then recited the 5 core principles of F3.  1) Free of charge 2) Open to all men.  3) Held outdoors, 4) Peer led in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).

Black Tuesday then informed the group that he is not a professional and to modify as necessary.  He recited the creedo – “Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him.”

Warm-O-Rama

The PAX moseyed around the Halleck park road, to the east by the soccer fields and down by Papio bay aquatic center before swinging back to the parking lot.  As the PAX returned to the flags, they finished off the warm-O-rama with some quick Tappy Taps (x8) and big ones (x7).

Thang: The PAX then gathered around the first cone on the duck pond trail.

Black Tuesday motioned to the group to indicate the location of the four numbered stations around the duck pond.  Each station contained exercises to be completed.  Black Tuesday then informed the PAX that they would be completing a ladder style run to the stations (1 -> 2, back to 1.  1 – >3, back to 1, 1->4, back to 1).  As the PAX traveled clockwise, they performed the exercises at the station they were turning around at.  As the PAX traveled counter clockwise, they stopped at every station to perform the exercises on the way back to home (station 1).

Exercises at each station were as follows:

Station 1 (home base): 5 burpees

Station 2:  10 merkins

Station 3:  20 Big Boys

Station 4:  30 Air squats

At approximately 0650 Black Tuesday called Omaha.  At this time, most PAX had made it all the way around the “snowglobe” (made it far enough in the ladder run to be going all the way around back to station 1). The PAX then moseyed back to the flags.

The PAX then completed Mary.

COT:

Think of a Snow Globe.

They’re Beautiful, amazing to look at, and you just want to keep shaking them to keep the magic going.

Now on the inside – pure chaos!  Earthquake, plus a blizzard, plus a tornado – insane!

YHC brings that up as an analogy for a few different situations in YHC’s personal life.

One that I’m directly a part of is family life.  I’ve got 3 kids under the age of 7 at my house.  Almost guaranteed that someone will be screaming or angry about something at any given time.  House is rarely clean, feels like we’re always late, and if it wasn’t for F3 I’d forget how many days I’d have gone without showering.  At times it feels like pure chaos.

The other one is one that I share with people I work with.  My team members are engaged on mega sized construction projects.  1,500 people  on the sites, large amounts of money being spent, and problems coming up left and right.  With that many people and that much money – emotions are all over the place and things are happening fast.  It’s common to find people getting stressed out or feeling negative about their situations on these projects.  Once again, the perception can be described as “chaotic”.

With those two situations, I try to emphasize to the people involved to just take a breath and focus on the bigger picture.  Being a part of a family is a blessing and working on large projects is something very few people get the opportunity to be a part of – both situations that many people desire to be in.  Once you take a step back, you realize that the chaos you’re perceiving to be in the middle of, is actually quite amazing when you zoom out – just like a snowglobe.

So with that – remember to enjoy your Snowglobes!
