Q: Safe Ride
Safe Ride welcomed the Pax of F3 Omaha to The Brickyard, Omaha’s coupon-featured AO in Stinson Park at 5:30am. The Mission Statement of F3 was flawlessly recited. Said mission is to plant, grow, and serve small men’s workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. The 5 core principles were recited: 1) it’s free; 2) open to all men; 3) held outdoors rain or shine; 4) peer led in a rotating fashion; 5) and ends in a circle of trust. Safe Ride is not professionals. There is a real risk of injury, so the men were instructed to modify as needed.
The PAX left their coupons at the playground area and moseyed from the shovel flags around the track of Stinson Park and circled up at the playground for WAR:
The PAX grabbed their coupons and moseyed west to the area in front of the stage. Once at the location, Safe Ride instructed the PAX to partner up for the Thang. The PAX was instructed that they would do 75 combined reps of a list of exercises. One partner would run across Stinson Park’s field and back while the other performed the exercise. Then switch. Rinse and repeat until OMAHA. The list of exercises was as follows:
- Coupon Curls
- Coupon overhead presses
- Coupon Squats
- Coupon Swings
OMAHA called at 6:06am. Mosey back to the shovel flag with your coupon.
- Flutter Kicks
- Big Boys
- Frozen Freddies.
- American Hammers
While in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Titanic hit an iceberg near midnight on April 14, 1912, and sank two hours and forty minutes later on the morning of April 15, 1912. Despite her size, she was only equipped with enough lifeboats for roughly half her passengers, due to outdated maritime regulations. Consequently, when the ship sank, she went down with more than 1,000 people on board. Most of those who jumped into the water died of cold shock in the freezing temperatures. In all, around 1,500 people of the 2,224 passengers died, making it one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters ever.
The RMS Carpathia arrived an hour and a half after the sinking; the last passengers in lifeboats were rescued around 9am on April 15th. The sinking of the Titanic shocked and outraged the world, leading to changes in maritime rules and the establishment two years later of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea.
We ended in prayer.
