QIC: Wait Time

10 PAX gathered down by the station, early in the morning attempting to flatten their puffer bellies and at 5:30 AM the station master (Wait Time), said “off we go.”

The PAX moseyed to the stadium, and carried a sand bag in preparation for the THANG. Wait Time led the PAX to the west side of the track for Warm-A-Rama.

WARM-A-RAMA:
SSH x 25 IC | String Rippers x 10 IC | Shoulder Taps x 20 IC | Crab Cakes x 15 IC | Hillbillies x 15 IC
The PAX moseyed to the west bleachers for the pre-THANG – CLOCK MERKINS (Shout out to Specimen!). Wait Time led the PAX in 10 reps of Clock Merkins (12-3-6-9 O’Clock) with various angles in the bleacher seats. Next, the PAX did two reps of Step-ups for 30 seconds before a second round of Clock Merkins.

THANG: The Power Stations
The PAX moseyed to the track for a two-man grinder with power stations on each sideline of the football field. Partner A ran across the field to the first Power Station and did 10 reps of the following exercises:
Werkins | Burpees | Cherry Pickers | Hydraulic Squats | Machtar Ndgiaye

While Partner A completed the run and the reps at Power Station 1, Partner B used a sandbag to complete the following exercises AMRAP:
Cusack Squats | Big-boy Sit-ups | Lunge with Twist | Uneven Merkins | Full Body Crunch (Bubbles discovered some new abdominal muscles).

6MOM:

COT:
Wait Time shared a Robert Hasting passage, “The Station.” Several years ago, a very wise man who has lived a fulfilling life read this passage before a Sunday dinner. It has served as a powerful reminder to live each day in the moment, and it perfectly complements our “Golden Spike” AO. Wait Time distributed 10 index cards to the PAX who read a segment of the passage:

THE STATION by Robert Hastings
Tucked away in our subconscious minds is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long, long trip that almost spans the continent. We’re traveling by passenger train, and out the windows we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hills, of biting winter and blazing summer and cavorting spring and docile fall.

But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour we will pull into the station. There sill be bands playing, and flags waving. And once we get there so many wonderful dreams will come true. So many wishes will be fulfilled and so many pieces of our lives finally will be neatly fitted together like a completed jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering … waiting, waiting, waiting, for the station.

However, sooner or later we must realize there is no one station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.

“When we reach the station that will be it!” we cry. Translated it means, “When I’m 18, that will be it! When I buy a new 450 SL Mercedes Benz, that will be it! When I put the last kid through college, that will be it! When I have paid off the mortgage, that will be it! When I win a promotion, that will be it! When I reach the age of retirement, that will be it! I shall live happily ever after!”

Unfortunately, once we get it, then it disappears. The station somehow hides itself at the end of an endless track

“Relish the moment” is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad. Rather, it is regret over yesterday or fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who would rob us of today.

So, stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, (“do more Merkins”) climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot oftener, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more and cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Wild Kingdom. Tonight Show reminded the PAX that we launch Wild Kingdom at Lake Zorinsky on Tuesday, March 26. This will be a convergence with the Cornhusker Handicap, so there will be no workout at Stinson Park on March 26.
Prayers for PAX on Spring Break. Several PAX will be traveling over the next two weeks. Bubbles asked that we pray for the guys who are traveling. Being away from F3Omaha reminds us to be grateful for our workouts and the HIMs we connect with in the gloom.
Wait Time closed with a prayer praising God for the blessings in our lives and asking for the strength of mindfulness that keeps us in the moment.

Carpe Diem!
Wait Time
