Back Blast: 2019 Iron Pax Challenge Week 1
Date: 9.3.2019
AO: Wild Kingdom
Pax: Lemon Law, Hard Hat, Roll Bar, Mufasa, Thor, Big Apple, Wait Time, The Big One, Stretch, Tonight Show
QIC: Tonight Show
Conditions: 82 degrees and sticky icky
Pax arrived to the darkness of the Wild Kingdom and were greeted by a runway of lit up cones which had been painstakingly measured out by YHC at 05:15. For future reference, a standard tape measure only has 25 feet on it so you have to measure twice to get to 10 yards. That a side, YHC completed the measurements and lit the cones with every flashlight I own. (This required 18 new batteries last night) Pax were welcomed to the gloom, the mission and disclaimer were given and everyone was reminded that despite the challenge being in full effect all exercises were still only a suggestion.
Warm-a-rama:
After a short 1/10 of a mile mosey the pax circled up for a quick demonstration and reminder of the challenge. (It did have to be clarified that burpees would end with an overhead clap.)
The Thang:
The thang was “Killer B’s” and it went a little something like this.
5 Rounds
Broad jump 10 yards and complete 10 Burpees, 10 Bonnie Blairs, and 10 Big Boi Sit ups.
Broad jump 10 yards and complete 10 Burpees, 10 Bonnie Blairs, and 10 Big Boi Sit ups.
Broad jump 10 yards and complete 10 Burpees, 10 Bonnie Blairs, and 10 Big Boi Sit ups.
Bear Crawl 30 yards back to the beginning
All pax completed all work. As men were completing the work it was great to hear the encouragement for the 6 AND the 12. Everyone was F3Omaha to represent well.
6MOM:
There was no time for Mary after this beat down so we proceeded directly to the the announcements and COT.
Announcements:
Roll Bar and his M will be speaking on behalf of the JDRF. It isn’t in their comfort zone so send your prayers.
IPC Week 1 redo will be on Friday at Golden Spike with Tater Tot. You can try to improve your time or you can join Wait Time for the regularly scheduled beat down.
COT:
Count-a-rama and name-a-rama were completed. YHC talked about the conversations around F3 Omaha and if IPC19 represents something opposite of what F3 stands for. YHC spent some time looking up antonyms for fellowship and while I found 47, none of them was ‘competition’. The IPC19 shows us we have a chance to encourage everyone, not just the 6 but the best of Omaha as well. Our 12 is a 6 in a different region. Encouraging each other to achieve something great is not the opposite of fellowship. This quote was shared and felt especially appropriate for the kickoff of the IPC.
“It means being and hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on, and an ear to listen. Being a brother means building and breaking bridges, celebrating victories and mourning losses together. Being a brother means so many different things to so many people, but it all comes back to passion and compassion.”
We can’t build and break bridges or celebrate victories without measuring success and encouraging each from the front and the back.
You are all amazing!
Aye!
