This was the most nervously excited that I’d been in quite some time. The night before reminded me of the night before my wedding. Playing out the morning in my mind over and over and how to (with Barn Door’s assistance) make sure that the beatdown came together without a hitch.
Pulling into the parking lot the morning of, I knew it was time to put my game face on and no matter how nervous or excited I was, there was going to be members of the PAX showing up ready to shred a beatdown!
Barn Door and I took a walk to Atlas hill to set up some lights and his leadership (like always) was in true form discussing a possible modification to the beatdown and we rolled with it. We then proceeded back to the parking lot to setup a couple more lights as the pre-run group started to congregate around the shovel flags (the smurphers had already taken off – great work Gents!).
We took off for the pre-run and it ended up being a great anxiety relief. Barbershop and Escobar took my mind off the upcoming beatdown and made it feel like every other morning at The Maize, cruising around the lake.
Game Time!
Obi-Wan welcomed the PAX to F3 at 5:30 AM, introduced Barn Door (yes, everyone knows Barn Door!) and what F3 stands for. Barn Door recited our five core principles like a boss and Obi rolled into the F3 mission statement, followed by Barn Door stating our F3 credo. Obi-Wan announced that we were not professionals (although Barn Door is riding a fine line between professional and non-professional) and please modify as necessary. No FNGs in attendance.
Warm-o-rama:
Barn Door requested everyone spread out in the parking lot for Warm-o-rama. SSHs IC were started, 5 were completed and off to Atlas hill we went!
Pre-Thang:
Once the PAX was at Atlas, Obi-Wan gave the instructions for the Pre-Thang. Lights were setup as a starting line at the base of the hill and another set of lights was halfway up the hill.
Everyone partnered up and started at the base of the hill.
Round 1
One partner Bernie Sanders to the light halfway up the hill, completed 15 Monkey Humpers IC, then run down to their partner. Other partner stayed at the bottom of Atlas hill doing AMRAP Air Squats. When partner 1 was back, the other partner took off to complete the same.
Round 2
One partner runs to the light halfway up the hill and ran back to their partner. Other partner stayed at the base of the hill and completed AMRAP Bonnie Blairs. When partner 1 was back, the other partner took off to complete the same.
Rinse & Repeat
Sometime close to 5:45 AM, Omaha was called so we were ready to move on to The Thang.
The Thang:
Barn Door gave us a run down of The Thang and had the PAX count off in 3’s for a grinder. Group 1 was the push group that ran around the block from the parking lot while the other 2 groups were setup on each end of the parking lot performing 20 reps of the following exercises.
Group 2
Werkins
Alternating Shoulder Taps
Merkins
Group 3
Low Dollies
Flutter Kicks
Heels to Heaven
There was some early confusion on which group to push. Like always, the PAX dealt with adversity and overcame the obstacle.
Omaha was called close to 6:05 AM. Back to the shovel flags.
Mary:
PAX circled up for one round of American Hammers: Rancid Style.
Announcements & Prayer Requests:

COT:
Barn Door took the helm to address the PAX. He thanked the PAX for the opportunity to lead over the past year and the fun he had doing it. He spoke of how this will be a 5th generation site and thank you to those Site Q’s that came before him. Barn Door and I have known each other for roughly 15 years, we used to work together at Schnackel Engineers. Thank you for the very kind words on this morning Barn Door, I am forever grateful for this opportunity and for you introducing me to F3!
The shovel flag was officially passed and it was a special moment to receive it from Barn Door.
Thank yous were a plenty as I started speaking to the PAX to try and show my appreciation for this opportunity and for all of the support. The Maize is the 1st site that I posted at as an FNG and Barn Door EH’d me. The beatdown this morning was a slightly modified version of my 1st beatdown Q’d by none other than Griswold (he smoked us that morning, well at least that’s how I remember it!). Working with Barn Door 15 years ago, the guy is a born leader. One word that comes to mind when I think of him is CONSISTENCY. He’s out in the gloom every day grinding through beatdowns and leading by example. He is the epidemy of a quote I recently ran across ‘How you do ONE thing, is how you do EVERYTHING!’ (Thank you Barn Door for your leadership!)
Thank you Wait Time for bringing F3 to Omaha, it’s a special group. Tater Tot, Plague, Gator and Barn Door thank you for this opportunity and reaching out to me to lead this site. Thank you to the former Site Q’s, (Ethanol, Hard Hat, Sasquash and Barn Door) without their leadership I would not be here to receive the shovel flag today. To each and every one of the PAX, thank you so much, you’re the reason I continue to post. I would not be here today if it wasn’t for you guys. In closing, this is an honor and a privilege that I don’t take lightly. Thank you and I love you guys!
Wait Time took us out in prayer.
SYITG!
Obi-Wan
