Q: Boss Hogg
I woke up very excited for the beatdown, getting on the Q-Schedule early for this newer AO that represents Sarpy so well. I arrived at 0500 for the early Pre-run with several other PAX. That group then joined up with the 0530 Pre-run group and ran again before getting into the beatdown.
I welcomed the rest of the PAX that joined at 0600. We recited that F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship and Faith. We covered F3’s Mission Statement: “To plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration or reinvigoration of male community leadership.” We listed F3’s five core principles: 1) Free of charge, 2) Open to all men, 3) Always outside, 4) Led in a rotating fashion, 5) End in a Circle of Trust
I recited that our credo was to “leave no man behind, but leave no man where we found him”
Lastly, I informed the PAX that I was not a professional and to modify today’s beatdown as needed.
The Thang/The Route
From the shovel flags at Halleck Park, the group ran west down Lincoln St, then turned right at 96th St to run north. The group continued running north, past Portal/6th St. then turned East on the trail by Hunter’s Crossing neighborhood. We continued eastbound on the trail and through the neighborhood until we reached the Target parking lot off 84th St. Some of the PAX at the head of the pack, continued on the trail to 6th St, while the rest of the group cut through the Target/Home Depot parking lots. The group met back up on 6th St and ran south through downtown Papillion toward the shovel flags. The route had a nice mix of flat, uphill, and downhill sections.

COT
I had spent the prior week at a conference in Houston, TX. At this conference we were discussing system change and the challenges that can be faced. Change is often difficult, whether it is implementing professional changes in your workplace as a leader, or maybe implementing personal change in your lifestyle. When we’re implementing the change, there’s typically an end goal in mind and accomplishing that goal can be a journey. I heard a quote at the conference, “Don’t let the great get in the way of good.” The speaker was encouraging us to take pride in the small victories and achievements that come along in the journey to achieve great change.
Aye!
