July 13, 2023   Block Party (The Grove Park, 188th & Pacific Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022)   65 Degrees, warm & muggy.  Great conditions to get a good sweat on.

6 PAX: Kryptonite, Macanudo (respect), Bogey, Primetime, Fine Print (no respect), Boji   QIC: Boji

Primetime and I left our house at 4:45am to head to the Block Party to set up.  Upon arriving we set up the shovel flag then grabbed our coupons and walked to the field across the street to set up for the beat down.  We immediately realized that we were going to get wet the second we stepped on the grass as there was very heavy dew on the ground.    After setting up for the “The Thang”, Primetime and I went on a little Mosey to plan our route for the Pre-Thang.  Once we had had that planned, we moseyed back to the shovel flags to greet the other PAX.   At 5:30am, I greeted the other 5 PAX to F3 and the Block Party.  I recited the 5 core principles, mission statement, credo and let everyone know that I was not a professional.    After the opening statements, the PAX grabbed their coupons, and we dropped them across the street in the field.

Warm-O-Rama: We moseyed to the intersection of 187th & 186th Street for “Warm-O-Rama”.  We used our “inside voices” as we were next to a residential area.

  • 20 Side Straddle Hops IC (10 out loud / 10 in silence)
  • 15 Cherry Pickers (IC)
  • 15 Tappy Taps
  • 10 Big Ones – Slow Count 5 on each side
  • 20 Sun Gods IC (10 Front & 10 Back)
  • 20 Michael Phelps (IC)

Pre Thang:

  • For the “Pre Thang” we did a string of pearls.  We moseyed up 187th St and turned on Jones Street, moseyed to the end of Jones St, turned around and moseyed back down.
    • 30 Merkins (at yellow fire hydrant)
    • 20 Big Boys (halfway up the hill on Jones Street)
    • 30 Air Squats (in open field at the end of Jones Street)
    • 20 Alternating Shoulder Taps (Intersection of 187th & Jones St)

Upon completion of the Pre-Thang the PAX gathered back up and we began a slow mosey back to the field for The Thang.

The Thang: Once we got back to the fields, I split the PAX up into pairs for “The Thang” which was a 2-man grinder with cumulative reps.  One guy did the exercises on the sheet while the other PAX ran to a cone on the far end of the field (once at the cone the PAX alternated between 10 Air Squats & 10 LBC’s IC) then ran back to his partner and picked up the reps. This was rinsed and repeated until Omaha was called.   2 Man Grinder / Cumulative Reps

  • 30 Blockee’s
  • 40 Squats (holding coupon)
  • 40 Overhead Press
  • 40 Curls for the Girls
  • 30 Kettle Bell Swings
  • 40 WWI (no coupon)

I was reminded of the time by Fine Print multiple times during this beat down.  I was encouraged to call Omaha early, however we stayed the course.    Omaha was called at 6:04am and the PAX gathered their coupons, lights, cones and exercise sheets and moseyed back to the shovel flags for Mary

6 -Minutes of Mary: Once back at the shovel flags I called on each of the PAX individually to do 15 reps of their favorite core exercise.  We ended with a modified version of rancid style American Hammers, each PAX counting a series of reps until we reached 29.     We ended Mary with a round of Rancid style American Hammers

Announcements/Prayer Requests:

COT: The COT was short and to the point.  We all get busy with the noise and distractions of our daily lives.  Sometimes during all this noise an opportunity will present itself.  You need to be able to recognize these opportunities when they present themselves.   Boji encouraged Primetime to lead us out in prayer but he clammed up.  Boji led us out.

Side note, our mission statement is to “Plant, Grow and Serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.”  As we continue to grow and expand in Omaha many of our workouts are large in numbers.  It was refreshing to me to be with this small group this morning.  Big thank you to Fine Print for allowing me to lead this morning.  I appreciate you all – Boji
