5:30 AM- Recited meaning, principles and mission of F3 and gave disclaimer; one FNG named Joe which made YHC really excited as I’ve had a name in store for a Joe for months.

Warm-o-Rama:

Moseyed a ¾ lap around the track and circled up at midfield:

• 30 second Small Ones hold

Pre- Thang- Kickoff Team:

• The PAX lined up on the north 40 yard line with YHC as the “kicker” and as I passed them we all sprinted 60 yards to the endzone, because I only kick touchbacks. 
• From the endzone, we lunged back to the south 40 yard line and kicked off again.
• From the opposite endzone, we reversed lunge back to the north 40 yard line.

We then counted off by 4’s for The Thang (4 pain stations):

1. (Push Group)- start on the north goal line and mosey 100 yards, stopping every 10 yards for 2 Burpees.

   1. Rinse and Repeat until pushed, then head up the steps to the wall behind the trees.
3. (The Wall)

   1. Hold a wall sit until pushed, then head down the stairs to the turf.

6:03- Omaha Call- YHC had hoped all groups would hit each station twice but the humidity got in the way and many 10 second recoveries were used, so each group made it around 1.5 times.  T claps to the groups that had the shoulder station and burpee station twice!

(Originally YHC had planned for a combination of Big Boy’s and football practice style up downs, shuffling your feet and hitting the floor on “hit” but since I was too gassed for that we called an audible and did a standard Mary)

Name-o-Rama:

-The FNG (Joe) is working a solid job and earning his degree online.  He didn’t have much to offer for name inspiration, so YHC pulled out a name I’ve been keeping in my back pocket for months, just needing someone named Joe.  I asked if he would describe himself as “exotic” but while he was still saying “ugh, no, not really” I shouted “TIGER KING IT IS!” to the delight of all PAX.

COT:

I had originally planned to go super Creighton Prep guy with my COT in advance of tomorrow night’s CP-Westside game and was going to highlight another impactful reflection from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.  Upon realizing that Grillz would be passing the shovel flag next week, I opted instead to share my Grillz story.

I first posted on 10/30/2020.  For the first month or so I didn’t really put much effort into anything other than beatdowns and coffee.  I was unaware of a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff and how site Q’s, 2^nd F and 3^rd F opportunities work.  One of my first 5-10 posts was at The Battlefield and I was able to make coffee afterwards (at the HyVee on Center at that time).  Little did I know that the PAX were in the middle of a book discussion. 

They were reading Wild at Heart, which I had read before but was not currently reading at the time.  Suddenly I realized to my horror that I was in a book discussion with nothing to contribute.  Rather than making an awkward exit, I decided to just stick around and listen.  This is probably the only meeting in my adult life that I have sat through in complete silence without contributing anything.  I’m sure that the PAX there were wondering who the hell this new guy was and why he wasn’t saying anything.

What was going through my head, though, while listening was “Oh man am I in the right place!”  I specifically remember the leadership of Grillz in promoting discussion and asking follow-up questions.  His humility and vulnerability in discussing intimate details of his life was so inspiring to me.  I see this moment as the first real breakthrough for me in understanding the 2^nd and 3^rd F’s.  It is what got me hooked on F3, so I thanked Grillz for setting such a welcoming example of the fraternal love that I have experienced in F3.  The lesson for us all is that you never know how your example can inspire others, specifically the ones that might not give you immediate feedback at the time. 

I led us out in a prayer of gratitude.
