Thang: This is a running AO and we did the normal lake route with 4 pain stations plus a steinl. The pain stations included 25 merkins and 25 LBC’s for a 100 total. When we got to the otherside of the lake, we found a nice circle and I did my shoulder steinl. 30 seconds plank, Merkins x 10, Alt Shoulder taps x 10IC, Dry Docks x 10, Raise the roof x 10, Merkin x 10, Alt Shoulder taps x 10IC, Dry Docks x 10, Raise the roof x 10, Merkins x 10, Alt Shoulder taps x 10IC, Dry Docks x 10, Raise the roof x 10, Plank 30 seconds.
We ended up with 3 miles of running and the exercises above, all while listening to Cousin Eddie’s glorious Rocky 4 playlist. He nailed this thing, had me play certain songs at certain times. Was perfect and got the blood pumping.
Finisher: We did a nice Yoga flow I like along with some rancid hammers.

Cousin Eddie CoT: First of all, thank you to my boy Griswold for co-Q’ing with me. Griswold got me involved in F3. I have known this guy for 25 years and I respect you more today than ever.
Todays workout obviously had a strong Rocky Balboa theme. Rocky 4 is one of my favorite movies….so if you haven’t seen it….I recommend checking it out …..and as a bonus you’ll learn how Rocky single handedly ended the Cold War…
The topic I thought I would talk about today is starting and finishing hard things. I have found in my life that the best sense of accomplishment and achievement comes from completing things that are the most difficult.
The thing I love about Rocky Balboa is that he starts seemingly impossible things and no matter what he finishes them. No matter what the odds are, no matter how difficult the task….no excuses…he goes the distance.
When Rocky fought Ivan Drago in Rocky 4, he was 5-11 200 lbs….Ivan Drago was 6-6, 260 pounds. Dragons record was 100-0. The average heavyweight boxer had a punching power at that time of around 700 PSI (pounds per square inch) Drago averaged between 1800 And 2100 PSI…..Taking the fight in the first place….most said it was suicide. Rocky’s own wife told him straight up….you can’t win.
Most of you probably know that Rocky went toe to toe with Drago, kept swinging, and chopped Drago down, turned a crowd in Moscow to his side and won the fight against all odds.
I know it’s just a movie but I think that story is a microcosm of battles we are all fighting now or challenges that we all probably know we should face head on in our lives.
Sometimes taking on a big goal or taking on a big challenge….whether you accomplish it or not doesn’t matter. It’s what the journey of striving for it makes of you that is really important, not whether you actually accomplish it or not. Honestly, preparing to lead this workout, no matter how you guys think it went, made me a better person so I appreciate the opportunity.
So long story short, my message today would be to have the guts to start hard things and have the toughness to stick with them and the heart to finish them.
Griswold thanks for the nudge to do this today and thank you all for being here to get after it with us.
Humbly,
Cousin Eddie & Griswold
