Q: Safe Ride
Safe Ride welcomed the Pax of F3 Omaha to latest and greatest AO, The Catamount Complex The Mission Statement of F3 was recited. F3 has 5 core principles: 1) it’s free; 2) open to all men; 3) held outdoors rain or shine; 4) peer led in a rotating fashion; 5) and ends in a circle of trust. Lastly, Safe Ride is not a professional. There is a real risk of injury, so the men were instructed to modify as needed.
WARM-A-RAMA
The PAX moseyed from the shovel flags onto Margo Street and down to the corner of 45th Avenue for WAR:
- Side Straddle Hops
- Tappy Taps
- Windmills
- Mountain Climbers
- Goof Balls
THE THANG:
The PAX stayed at the corner of the intersection and was informed we’d be moving right into The Thang. The PAX would run west up Bernadette Avenue which has a very Shirley Street kind of feeling to it. Once you reach to top the street, you’d perform 25 reps of a particular exercise. Then you run back down the hill to do the same exercise at the top. Rinse and repeat until Omaha. The exercises were as follows:
- G Groiners IC
- R Randys IC
- O Overhead Claps
- S Squats
- S SSH
OMAHA called at 5:51am. Mosey back to the shovel flags.
MOM:
- LBCs
- Big Boys
- Freddy Mercuries
- Flutter Kicks
- Sarpy Slammers
MUMBLECHATTER:
“Bernadette and Shirley are a couple of bitches”.
COT:
It was on this date in 1975, Saturday Nigh Live premiered on NBC. George Carlin was the host. That show, through all of its iterations, cast, hosts, and musical guests have shaped countless youths, whether that’s the humor, political ideology, and musical preference. Wayne’s World, The Roxbury guys, Alex Trebek and Jeopardy, Scweddy Balls. Belushi, Murray, Ferrell, Sandler, Farley, Wigg, Myers, Sudeikes. Nirvana, Simon & Garfunkel, Tom Petty, Beastie Boys, Prince.
In high school, I remember watching SNL with friends and talking about hilarious sketches or repeating funny lines we heard from last week’s show. I look back at old casts, especially those during my teenage and early adult years, and firmly believe those were the best. With that being said, I still enjoy watching SNL today. It makes me laugh and smile (at times).
