F3 makes us more resilient.  What does not kill us, makes us stronger.  Today’s workout was called “Brick-o-lage.”  The third building block of resilience is “bricolage” or the ability to make do with whatever is at hand.  Psychologists follow the lead of French anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss in calling this skill bricolage.1 Intriguingly, the roots of that word are closely tied to the concept of resilience, which literally means “bouncing back.” Says Levi-Strauss: “In its old sense, the verb bricoler…was always used with reference to some extraneous movement: a ball rebounding, a dog straying, or a horse swerving from its direct course to avoid an obstacle.”

Bricolage in the modern sense can be defined as a kind of inventiveness, an ability to improvise a solution to a problem without proper or obvious tools or materials.

Our workout used bricks and it was an absolute beatdown.  I hope it helped all those who posted to be more resilient.

A brief mosey from the #ShovelFlag through Boys Town for:

Warm-A-Rama

  • SSH x 25 IC
  • Sun Gods x 12 IC
  • Chinooks x 12 IC

With that in the bag, we moseyed to the other side of Boys Town campus for a crowdpleaser.

The Thang (pt. 1)

The Steinl (#crowdpleaser)

  • Hold plank for 30 secs, then lower to Chilcutt (forearm) plank for 30 secs
  • 10 Merkins
  • Amazing Spiderman (peter parker, mountain climber, parker peter) right leg
  • 10 Merkins
  • Hold plank for 30 secs, then lower to Chilcutt (forearm) plank for 30 secs
  • 10 Merkins
  • Amazing Spiderman (peter parker, mountain climber, parker peter) left leg
  • 10 Merkins

Let it be known that what began as a slow, methodical 30 count for each plank, that  quickly escalated when Ponzi took over! Steinl is a brutal gift passed on from F3Greensboro – thanks Tommy Boy.  Then, it was time for:

Solid work by the PAX.  It was evident during Name-O-Rama that everyone was gassed.  The Big One forgot his name – shout out to Boom-Boom.
