PAX: Griswold, Cousin Eddie, Doggy Paddle, Gator, Cheap Seats, Unicycle, Hard Hat, Speed Square, Barn Door

Q: Barn Door

I arrived to the shovel flags with 2 minutes to spare, after the Maize Smurph, as 8 PAX were ready to go hard. I offered up the Core principles, Mission, Credo, and disclaimer.

We skipped right over Warm o Rama as I was ready to get to action. And to be honest, wasn’t exactly sure how long the planned beatdown would take. Its hard to judge how long it is going to take 9 guys to complete 420 merkins and 2+ miles.

The THANG

We stuck to the neighborhood streets as our guide, but used every single intersection we came across to push ourselves physically. Our small tasks started with 2 merkins and we added 2 more merkins at every additional intersection. In the end we got up to 40 merkins at the last intersection. Hard Hat volunteered to lead the final set and of course being the HIM he is, pushed us all the way through without stopping. In the end we completed 420 merkins. We continued on from our last intersection and found the flags again.

“Omaha” was called and we completed some Mary.

6MOM consisted of:

  • Gris led us in Rosalitas
  • Speed Square led us in gas pumpers
  • Hard Hat led us in Marge and Homers

Circle of Trust:

Small daily acts can make a huge difference. I recently heard a story about a man in India who saw the destruction of a forest as a kid when trees were being cut down. This forest was once an oasis for Indian wildlife. This man decide he was going to make a difference and planted one tree everyday in the barren area for the next 37 years. This land is now a massive forest almost twice the size of Central Park. The forest has now attracted back the native animals. It now houses a 115 herd of elephants, alongside tigers, rhinos, and deer. It is 1,359 acres. So, that one small daily act can make a huge difference. Are you going to use that small act for good or bad?

Aye!
