Mount Olympus – The Hard Things
5/8/2024, 5:15 | Mount O | 58°F
PAX: Chernobyl, Black Tuesday, KOA, Schrute, Crankbait, Dozer, Bowflex, G String, Low Flow, Fun Dip, Baby Shark, Amadeus, Lot Lizard
QIC: Simmons
At 4:45 Pre-Runners took off on the Lake Loop Pre-run, while Simmons set up the site.
At 5:15 Simmons welcomed PAX to F3 and thanked them for coming out for his Q at Mount Olympus. He reminded them of the mission to Plant, Serve, and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. He stated the credo of “leave no man behind, and leave no man where we find him”. He then covered the 5 core principals of F3. 1) Open to ALL men. 2) Always free. 3) Always held outdoors. 4) Lead in a rotating fashion. 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT). He also stated, “I am not a professional! And to modify as needed!” Lastly he asked if we had any FNG’s (there was none).
The Warm – A – Rama
PAX started our watches and began with circling up and doing 15 tappy taps and 10 big ones in cadence. We grabbed our coupons and began a goblet walking butt kicks towards the field. We got about 20 yards out before PAX switched to a overhead march with the coupon. We repeated each twice on the way to the top of the hill by the field. PAX found a 4 square line in the parking lot to perform some line hops mixed in with Sun Gods.
Pre-Thang
PAX ran to the grass hill on the West side of the school to do a line drill up the hill. Each time we returned to the bottom of the hill we performed a different version of squats (Calfee Squat, Lower half Squat, Air Squats, and Jump Squats). After completion we grabbed our coupons and made our way to the track.
The Thang
PAX split up into 3 groups (2 with 5 and 1 with 4). The workout was set up as a rotating station relay. Each group had 5 exercises, one for each PAX (Coupon Lunges, Coupon Merkins, Coupon Glute Bridge Walkouts, Coupon Thruster, 200m sprint). The sprint was the push man, so they would either run 200m and cut across the field, or just finish the full 400m and go to the back of the line. Each guy would move forward to the next exercise and repeat. This made each exercise last between 1:30-2:00. Once we made it through one round each we flipped the papers over to reveal the 2nd exercises (Coupon Chest Press, Derkins, Coupon Swings, Coupon Curls, 100m sprint).
“OMAHA” was called at 5:50 and we carried our coupons back to the flags for Slammers and NOR!
COT:
“Do the Hard Things”
I was thinking of what to say for a COT at Mount Olympus, and the first 2 things that came to mind were the Greek gods, and coupon workouts are hard. I’m currently reading the New Testament of The Bible, and Paul and the other apostles are writing letters to all these churches that they had started all over the place. Most of these cities were already heavily indoctrinated with 100s of different gods of the day. The apostles could’ve chose the safer route and stuck only to the cities nearby that had been closer to Jesus while he was alive. That would’ve made their jobs a lot easier. But no, they chose the hard path. My Father In-Law is a Pastor and he uses the term EGR people. This means Extra Grace Required. We often times, as the apostles did, need to not ignore our EGR people and extend them a branch spiritually. To make it F3 applicable, we probably have guys at our work or that we come into contact with throughout our weeks that are our EGR people. Maybe they have some annoying qualities or character traits that aren’t in line with yours. Maybe if we extend a branch and EH that guy, F3 and this group can help bring out those qualities in him and make him require a little less grace to be around.
I also lost track and forgot where I was going halfway through the COT and almost bailed. But luckily I remembered just in time!
