AO – The Colosseum
35 degrees; small breeze
Q – Stella
18 PAX: Safe Ride, Cosmo, Samples, Smash Mouth, Davinci, Falling Waters, Caddy Shack, Q-Tip, Invictus, Vanilla Ice, Black Lung, Tom Tom, Shield, Honey Maid, Dirty Bird, Folsom, Space Bar, Stella.
5:30 AM – YHC welcomed PAX and went over mission statement, 5 core principles and disclaimer. Told the PAX this would be a savage beatdown. Some laughed, some looked terrified.
For Warm-A-Rama, we took a ¾ of a lap around the track and met in the middle. We started off with SSH, Tappy Taps, Cherry Pickers, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers. We ended with 15 SSH IC.
Pre-Thang: YHC promised no hills, but stairs were not mentioned, so we went to the base of the stairs. We did 15 dips at the bottom and then went to the top for 5 burpees. We then ended back down at the base and did 30 dips to conclude the pre-thang. YHC wanted to leave plenty of time for The Thang.
The Thang: We had a list of the below exercises in the N endzone. We got in groups and stayed with the group the whole time. After 50 reps, we then ran to the S endzone for either 5 burpees or 10 hand release merkins. This was dealer’s choice… We did this until Safe Ride reminded YHC we needed to beat The Coop to coffee. Omaha was called around 6:03 and we then did some 6MOM. We had an upbeat music selection for the beatdown. The song Jingle Jingle was courtesy of Folsom. He shared this song recently at The Brickyard.
N endzone exercises, 50 reps:
- Alt. Shoulder Taps
- Monkey Humpers
- Carolina Dry docks
- Big Boys
- Imperial Walkers IC
- Air Squats
- Plank Jacks
- Bobby Hurley’s
- American Hammers IC
Some mumblechatter among the PAX during the beatdown. Safe Ride was noted saying we better beat the Mess Hall to coffee or else…
For Mary, we started off with boxcutters, followed by some LBCs, Low Dollys and a round of American Hammers. We then did Name-A-Rama and went into prayer requests, announcements and the COT.
The COT today if there was a title would be, “Don’t be miserable in advance.” I came across this motto in a stoic book a while back and when you think about it, it really does make a lot of sense. It does not do any good to stress or have anxiety about something that has not yet happened. Maybe it would happen, or isn’t as bad as you thought it could be. YHC has been trying to practice this them for the last 2 weeks, as my family is dealing with some health issues for a child. Encouraged the PAX to apply this and Folsom prayed us out.
Aye!
