12 May, 2022 / The Maize / Copperfields Park / 77 degrees
Our Shieldlock was formed in October 2021 and is made up of Barn Door, Cheap Seats, Mufasa, Blades of Glory, and Gator. When Barn Door needed someone to Q, we all jumped on board. Although Cheap Seats had to go out of town, he was there in spirit with the Three Amigos as the Invisible Swordsman.
With a sexually suggestive homage to the Three Amigos preblast posted, (something like this:

…we were poised to welcome the following 42 PAX to F3 Omaha:
Escobar, Tater Tot, Khakis (respect), Bubbles, Sawblade (respect), Cowboy, Scoober, Tea Party, Crab Cakes, Speed Square, Sasquash, De Cleet, Ozark (respect), Wrecking Ball (downrange), Doppler, Slow Pitch, Mr. Miyagi, Lincoln Log (respect), Convoy, Bieber, Big Unit, Thor, Vlasic (respect), Unicycle, Da Kine, Wait Time, Farva, Kingsford, Ketchup, Cersei, T-Ball, Obi-Wan, Barbershop, Gump, Yodel, Fine Print, Ralphie, Grillz, Hollywood, Blades of Glory, Mufasa, and Gator.
Mufasa was quick on the draw to do his new Intro-Burpee-Rama: 50 burpees in 5 minutes while covering the mission, five core principles, and (breathe) the other parts of the (breathe) intro…
Mosey to basketball court for WoR:
SSH x 1 (a Sparty classic)
Pre Thang: The El Guapo (Spanish for The Stienel) ( No, not really)
STEINL:Â Plank x 30 | Chilcutt x 30 | Merkin x 10 | Amazing Spiderman x 10 IC | Merkin x 10 | Plank x 30 | Chilcutt x 30 | Merkin x 10 | Amazing Spiderman x 10 IC | Merkin x 10
Blades then led us in Tha Thang… Amigos, Amigos, Amigos
We originally planned 3 groups, 3 stations, with Group 1 needing 10 coupons at most. On the fly, we tried to make it 6 groups, and 6 stations. Well… we tried.
Station 1 (or station 3… maybe 6?):
Nemos
Station 4, no, wait. Station 2. Yep. : Â Legs
Lunges:
What brings you joy?
In Gator’s group, Farva talked about how going to Pearl Jam concerts brings him joy. He has been to 37! That’s not for nothing, man…
Monkey Humpers
What is a Shield Lock?
Imperial Squats
Who are guys that you post with regularly? Do you slack them?
Side Lunge Squats
What’s keeping you from Shield lock or what’s keeping you from leaving your shield lock?
Bonnie Blair
Station 3? Oh, wait I think we finally figured it out…: Arms:
Merkins?
Q Source? What is it and have you been recently…
Cherry Pickers
Shoulder Taps
Hand Stand (handstand Walk) or Carolina Dry docks
Strangest story you have about Mufasa.
Someone finally called Omaha, as the PAX were as gassed as they were confused.
Gator threw out a trivia question: What is the name of the song that the Three Amigos sing in the Cantina?
Gump was on key with his correct answer: “My Little Buttercup“
Bobby Hurley’s x 7
Gator then asked the PAX to mosey down to the guardrails and sing a few bars of the song. We lined up for
The Infamous Post Thang
DIPS X 20 (90 degree legs)
DIPS X 20 (right leg up)
DIPS X 20 (left leg up)
DIPS X 20 (legs fully extended on your heels)
Ranger Merkins x 20
TenCount. Whoosh. We did this again with a few less reps. It seemed to the Q that the PAX preferred his singing to his tricep bonanza. This was based on someone saying Gator was the son of a motherless goat…
We did another trivia question: What year did was the Three Amigos released? After a plethora of answers, our man Vlasic got it: 1986
Bobby Hurley’s x 7
Mosey back to the Shovel Flags
6MOM: The German says to Wait Here
Beast Mode x 30 count
Alternating Knee Taps x20IC
Plank x30
Gator Spears x 20IC
Chilcut x30
Gator Tails x20IC
Countarama: 42?!? This is the Answer to life, the universe, and everything!
Namearama: I’m pretty sure Khakis was still aggrieved from Mufasa’s intro, Blades’ confusing thang, and Gator’s “Jake from State Farm” reference, but he was mostly thrown off by Bubbles’ “respeeeeeeect!”
COT: What positive impact has the Shieldlock had for you?
Mufasa talked about how the Shieldlock pushed him to do 75 hard, which includes reading 10 pages of a book everyday. And this enabled Mufasa to read his first book in years. Wait Time asked which Dr. Suess book? Turns out it was Freed to Lead! In short, Mufasa realized that he needed his brothers to push him to do better in many areas and that this has had a positive impact on his life.
Blades discussed how a Shieldock brings people together from different backgrounds and experiences – people who you might not otherwise encounter. We learn from each other and our differences, but we can also put these aside to help each other.
Gator told the PAX that the Shieldlock had helped him talk about problems he always had kept to himself. Sharing them with the Shieldlock made him realize he was not the only one wrestling with these issues. And it’s amazing how much talking about these things with others can make a difference.
We encourage you to formalize a shield lock out of the group of guys with whom you talk, text, and post. It can make a big difference!
With Gratitude,
Gator, Mufasa, and Blades of Glory
