Pre-Thang: YHC connected his Bluetooth speaker to his iPod and told the PAX that since it was Halloween season that we were going to do some “Ghostbusting”. The song Ghostbusters was played while each man did alternating lunges while the song played. Every time “Ghostbusters” was sung the PAX would perform a burpee. Every time “I ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost” was sung a squat jump was performed. The song is longer than I remember, and got very tough towards the end of the song.
Thang:
We moseyed to the east soccer field for some fun with a deck of cards. The PAX split up into groups of 3. Each group of 3 had a deck of cards and would flip a card to determine the exercise and the number of reps. The number and suit of the card would determine the exercise and number of reps. (Face cards were 12 reps) The exercises would be performed on one end of the soccer field and then after running to the other end and bear crawling up a small hill, the exercises would be performed again before running back to flip a new card. YHC may have strategically placed a few Jokers (Shenanigans) in each deck. The mumblechatter was plentiful and the playlist was all songs with “WAR” in the title. Splinter did not enjoy BONE thugs cover of “WAR (what is it good for)”.

Chance AND Choice
Chance represents the opportunity presented to the person without the ability to decide which to pick or leave. Chances are products of untested processes; they are open opportunities that give you a reason to make choices.
Choices are deliberate actions taken when a chance is opened to you. Choices are either beneficial or detrimental. The choice you take in a situation determines the end result.
Chance and Choice, depending of the situation, work together.
“You must make a Choice…. To take a Chance…OR…Your life will never change.”
Everyone took a chance the first time you showed up and posted…. everyone today took a chance on me as the Q…. everyone had multiple chances with the deck of cards, but we all made choices to show up, to trust, and do the work.
I have learned that chances are open opportunities that do not require permission to occur, but choices are your definite decisions. Your choices can be the beginning of your breakthrough or the genesis of your predicament.
I challenge everyone to take some chances on unfamiliar people and experiences and choose to grow from those experiences.
