Q: Frosty

Gorgeous morning.  I was greeting by Samples in the parking lot to see if I wanted to run.  Told him I was going to set up but volunteered Greasefire.  YHC felt joy in listening to Samples and Greasefire run through the neighborhood while I set up for the beatdown.

5:30 arrived!  Delivered the mission statement, core principles and creedo.

Frosty reminded the PAX to Modify as needed but as always, modify the exercise not the effort!

Warm O’ Rama   For warm o’ rama we visited the four pain stations that would be used for the pre-thang.

5 SSH – Station #1 by the picnic tables.  There are coupons on the picnic tables.  This will be the coupon station.
5 Tappy-Taps – Station #2, the benches on the west sideline.  This will be the Dips/Step-Ups Station
5 Big Ones – Station #3, the benches on the east sideline.  This will be Monkey Humpers/Incline (or decline) merkins station
Station #4 – The steps of the stadium.  This will be the Squat Jump station

Pre Thang:   We split into 4 groups.  1’s at 1, 2’s at 2, 3’s at 3 and 4’s at 4.  All stations are 15 reps of each exercise except station 4, they are the push group.

Station 1 – 15 Curls, 15 Military Press, 15 Squats (rinse and repeat until pushed)

Station 2 – 15 Dips, 15 Step-Ups (IC) (rinse and repeat until pushed)

Station 3 – 15 Monkey Humpers, 15 Incline (or decline) merkins (rinse and repeat until pushed)

Station 4 – Squat Jump up the stadium stairs (24 stairs) then run down the ramp and push station #1

The pre-thang was a gasser, especially if you did the squat jumps on every stair, not just hop

There was plenty of mumble chatter about YHC’s hurry to get to the pre-thang or why the pre-thang was so intense, but they were about to find out why.

The Thang: We split into 2 teams for BRISKETBALL. Brisketball recently came into my life via Icy Hot and it might be my favorite thing ever. Brisketball is a game from Creighton Prep’s PE class. It is a lot like Ultimate Frisbee with a football, only you can advanced the ball until touched.

It was fevered game and in the end, we don’t know who won, but we ran and sweat and had a great time.

The Rabbit Hole always splits time between beatdown and a game. With Colosseum sponsoring The Rabbit Hole the next week, I wanted to bring a little of that culture to the Colosseum.

COT: “The ego lives in a dualistic environment, black and white, good or bad, love and hate. The egoic mind wants to control the outcomes as much as possible. But it’s an illusion. The ego is never in control. It just likes to believe it is. When reframing this controlling thinking into acceptance of what is, we can move away from the ego’s dualistic viewpoint.

The soul’s simplicity shines a light for us to realize the choice before us. Do we want to be right or be happy?” – Terri Kozlowski

I want to change your mind! I want to be right! I want to get my way! And my ego tells me these things are possible. They’re not.

I need to let go of the need to be right. We have no control over this ship and the only thing that comes from trying to control people, places and things is pain.

I had another painful week last week and I was positive I was right! But my boss raised his voice at me for the first time in nearly 2 years and my 2 co-workers could barely speak to me. Maybe I was right, maybe not. But I was definitely the problem. And I was definitely in pain and for sure causing pain.

So how do I get to this place of acceptance and shake this need for duality and control? Faith. Faith gets me out of fear. Faith gets me away from control. Do I want to be right or do I want to be happy? I want to be happy and ask God for the Faith to accept that everything is ok just the way it is.
