AO: Futurama

The QIC Snidely rolled up to the AO at 0459 to pre-ruck. This time people were there to do some prestuff and start the day right! Doll Face, Q-Tip, and Snidely rolled out to help set up the cones for the workout and to get some quick hills in.

Coming back to the AO, a large group of HIM were already gathered. “This is going to be a good day,” Snidely thought. At 0530, the QIC Snidely recited the words familiar to all F3 veterans and thanked them for the chance to lead today. All five core principles were said out loud, the mission was confirmed, and the credo was stated for all to hear. An important disclaimer was given – he is in fact not a professional and to modify as necessary. No FNGs, but we had some people showing up late. A’int no thang. The music was started and things were gonna to start warming up.

Todays workout was all about pushing to failure… just 6 exercises, but performing each until failure or form breaks down. The COT would explain it all.

The mood was good. People were excited!

WARMARAMA (0531)

Just some basic warmups.

  • SSH x 15IC
  • Trunk Twists x 10
  • Tappy Taps x 15IC 
  • Big Ones x  6IC
  • Cherry Pickers x 15IC
  • Sun Gods Forward IC / and in Reverse (w/ the thumbs pointed down) x 10 IC each direction
  • Good enough!

THANG (0535)

The group counted off into 1’s and 2’s. 1’s would go to the South Station and 2’s would head to the North Station to start their first exercises, performing to failure. Once you completed one exercise, you rotate to the next station to start that exercise. It was just a quick half-circle mosey around the Memorial monument.

South Station

  1. Merkins (pushups) –  until failure, run to rose garden entrance
  2. Plank – until failure, run to rose garden entrance
  3. Snidely Squats (1 1/4 Squats) – until failure, run to rose garden entrance

North Station

  1. Alternating Lunges – until failure, run back to stairs
  2. Dips – until failure, run back to stairs (should have put this on the south side where you could have used the wall… oops!)
  3. Freddy Mercurys – until failure, run back to stairs

The HIM enjoyed the workout… maybe a bit apprehensive at first, but eventually the groups split and people went their own speeds. Flying V spent over 20 minutes doing Alternating Lunges, but eventually the steam ran out and he moved on to the next exercise. Others spent a long time doing Snidely Squats while mumble-chattering or jamming to the music (Punk Covers on Amazon Music)… but the longer you did Snidely Squats though, the more likely you were to look like a new calf trying to walk for the first time as you tried running to the next station. There was something for every one.

6MOM (0605) 

  • Stretching w/ Caruso (much needed, I might add)
  • Snidely thought about American Hammers, but we did enough for the day.

COT (0615)

Snidely talked reframing our failures into paths for growth. The workout was a bunch of exercises we all failed at, but it was just a path for us to move forward with. #keepaccelerating
