YHC welcomed the PAX to F3 at 5:30 AM.  Let everyone know my name is Obi-Wan and then on to what F3 stands for, our five core principles, the F3 mission and F3 credo were cited to the PAX followed by the disclaimer.  There was 1 FNG in attendance, welcome Longneck!  Nice job on the EH Slow Piiiiiiiiiiiittchaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!  Obi-Wan told the PAX to pay attention to the stops we’d be making during Warm-o-rama with more instructions to follow.

Warm-o-rama:

We circled up on the parking lot to the South of the ball field and did 15 IC Tappy Taps, 15 IC Imperial Walkers, 10 IC Sun Gods forward and 10 IC Sun Gods reverse.

The PAX then moseyed to the parking lot on the West side of the school to perform the following:

10 IC Big Ones and a nice slow pigeon stretch for both legs.  Prior to our next mosey Obi let them know the stairs next to the parking lot would be part of the beatdown and to remember them.

We moseyed on to Marcy Street (just North of Hy-Vee) and headed West.  Along the road YHC identified a light pole as our ‘finish’ line.  Back to the spot we performed our first Warm-o-ramaexercises.

The Thang:

The PAX counted off in 2’s.  The Thang is performing the exercise listed on the sheet.  Once completed, run (don’t sprint, don’t jog) to the light pole (finish line) and back to the exercises on the sheet.  Exercises were as follows:

20 – Carolina Dry Docks

15 IC – Chicken Peckers

25 – Air Squats

15 IC – Alt. Shoulder Taps

Stairs (on West side of school) x 2

20 IC – Monkey Humpers

20 – Merkins

Group 1 was instructed to start at the top of the list and Group 2 from the bottom.

Prior to starting The Thang YHC asked the PAX to focus on each rep and to challenge themselves the entire time.  When you’re tired or think you can’t do anymore, do more.  The PAX crushed this beatdown and gave it their all!

Omaha was called and after the 6 was in we had a short mosey back to the shovel flags.

Mary:

Chippendale and Barbershop each led us in a core exercise.  (At the time I must have been worried more about catching my breath than what exercises they picked because I cannotremember either of them… sorry gents!.) Steeple may have led an exercise too (wow guys… note to self, take notes next time!).

We then did one round of American Hammers – Rancid Style.

COT:

I started my COT by sharing with the PAX that I’ve had multiple things on my mind lately so I’m going to be jumping around a bit.  I started with sharing a couple quick things about myself.  With new PAX in the group I thought simply sharing some things about me would hopefully allow others to get to know me in case I haven’t been able to chat with them yet.  I’m married to my high school sweetheart, been married for 12 years now and thank you to her for allowing me to be part of F3.  She’s been through a lot with me and I would not be here today without her.  I asked the PAX to make sure and thank their M’s sometime during the day.  I have an 8 year olddaughter and 4 year old son.  Like most kids they keep me busy and keep me on my toes.  One thing I’ve heard recently is to make sure to be on their level, try to think from their point of view prior to responding abruptly like I have the tendency to do.  They are a large portion of why I come to F3, why I work and why I do many things in my life.

I work with Phantom Menace, one of our F3 brothers, and he continually challenges me in all facets of my life.  It’s challenging me in a good way, not demanding that I do this or that.  He’s pushing me from behind and picking me up if I fall.  I told the PAX to find those people in their lives and continue gravitating towards those people.

During a recent hill challenge with Phantom Menace, he asked me ‘Who are you when things get tough?’.  It’s something I asked the PAX to ask themselves and think about the answer.  Can we be at our best when things are tough, both physically and mentally.  Where are we now and where can we go?

Whether it’s at home, work, with family don’t let people lose trust in you.  If you say you’re going to do something, do it.

In closing, I shared that we’re all here at F3 to be our best self.  We will never be perfect, but how close can we get and how can we keep challenging each other to accelerate?

SYITG!

Obi-Wan
