“Let’s Move On”
11 Pax: KOA, Beans, Khakis, Shingles, Jackson-5, Biscotti, Fun Dip, G-String, Schrute, Tater Tot, Swiper
QIC: Swiper
4:35am Pre Run+: Swiper, Schrute, Fun Dip
4:45am Pre Run: Tater Tot, Khakis
4:45am Ruck: Shingles
Schrute, Fun Dip and I set out – and Schrute corrected my route a few times. We usually go this way, Farva went that way. I had set out a path and we ran it. We ran down the trail, and then Schrute again said, we normally turn here. I said let’s run the entire thing and then up Main St. That was a challenge! I then had to go #2……..This would plague the workout. We stopped at the ball fields. Bathrooms! Locked.
We saw some familiar faces, Tater Tot and Khakis were running. I would later see texts from Tater – too bad we missed him.
Next up, more fields. Bathrooms! Locked again.
Ugh….we headed back and looped the school, looking for bathrooms, I got onto the field, More bathrooms and more locked doors. I would have to power through this one.
On to the beatdown. I welcomed the Pax to F3 – and explained it is Fitness, Fellowship and Faith – reminding them of the mission to Plant, Serve and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. And that is what we had today and I was excited to lead. I was also excited to meet Goose, who I had not yet met.
I covered the 5 core principles of F3. 1) Open to ALL men. 2. Always Free. 3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT)…..I actually did always outside last and the group thought I was going to screw up….
There was no FNG today.
I covered the Credo: Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him. That means acceleration physically but also mentally.
As I planned the workout, I tried to be mindful of not running like I normally do and making things easily modifiable.
5:17 am Warm-a-rama
We ran across the street and I saw a truck pulling up…G-string met us across the street.. We did:
- We hung down for a 10 count stretching – mumble chatter was already starting to get out of control
- 10 Tappy Taps IC
- 10 Tater Taps IC (I threw this to Tater Tot to lead)
- 10 Count Hip Stretch – Right and Left
- 10 Toy Soldiers IC
- 10 Chinooks IC – Forward and Backwards
Then we ran back over to the school by the front drop off circle. I had encouraged guys that were not insured to wear a weighted vest. KOA, Shrute, Fun Dip and I had them on. G-String ran to his car and grabbed his. Onward we go.
5:22 am Pre Thang: Circle Up
I Started us out by first walking around the circle and curling the Swiper Coupon. The remaining pax would AMRAP the first item below, then someone else would walk and curl and we would go to the next item:
Burpees
X-Factors
Burpees
Overhead Claps
Burpees
SSHs
Burpees
Copperhead Squats
Burpees
Scissor Kicks
5:30 am Pre Thang II:
We would grab some Curb and Bear Crawl across and do 5 Elevated Merkins, Crawl Bear and do 5 Derkins. After a couple rounds of this with a vest I called Omaha. Now Lunge forwards, 5 Curb Jumps, Reverse Lunge, 5 Curb Taps IC. Two round of that. Tough.
5:37 am Thang: Shingles Choice
We ran over to a little hill between the football and baseball fields. I told the group we would do 11s…..I asked Shingles to choose….KOA and Fun Dip yelled to do Monkey Humpers and other things that would make a guy, trying not to Shart, in fact, Shart…..thanks friends.
The choice was made – Donkey Kicks at the bottom – 1 and Monkey Humbers IC at the top, 10. Here we go. The weighted vest was catching up to me!
After most guys got about half way through, Omaha was called again and we stopped at the top.
5:42 am Thang II: Partner on the Wall
I told the Pax to Partner up and one Pax would Wall Sit and the other would do 10 Big Boi’s and then Switch. We did this for about 4-5 minutes.
After that we ran back to the flag. I took us to the grass vs. the cement and sand.
5:49 am 6MOM
We circled up and Planked. We held a plank for about 30-45 seconds and then did the same Chilcut. We did side planks for about 3o seconds each.
We then did 11 Sarpy Slammers.

COT – Move On
Well, I hinted that we need to move on. I explained, while wearing my Gross High School basketball practice jersey from 1997, that when I was in high school, Gross and Ralston were bitter rivals. There was fights after games in parking lots and folks were really getting messed up. Fast forward, when I started college, I hung out with a lot of Ralston grads. Specifically at one house, 2611 R St. Good times.
I met my first two roommates from Ralston.
And eventually at 2611 R, I met a beautiful girl named Katie. Katie would become my M, and best friend and bear me three wonderful children. If I had not moved on from that Ralston hatred, I would have missed out on these relationships and growth and my eventual family!
I challenged the men to what they were holding on to. A mean co-worker, issues with a family member, a bad relationship. Search deep and try and move on. You don’t know what you might be missing if you don’t. It could change your life. Especially around Christmas, a lot of folks hold on to hate and jealousy and relationships need to be mended.
Forgive, Forget and Move On!
I asked Khakis, who just got the Nugent Flag, to take us out in prayer.
Aye! Swiper
