Friday, November 24, 2023 | The Brickyard | Stinson Park, Omaha, NE | 22 Degrees, Feels Like 11 Degrees, 55% Humidity, Wind 10 MPH from the North

9 Pax: Tassels, Bambi, Mint Julep, Wentworth, FNG Jimmy = Monarch, Bobsled, Caruso, Royale, Snidely

QIC: Snidley w/ a debut Q

0445 – I rolled up and saw Bobsled (our Site Q) already out rucking, likely out admiring the Christmas lights 🎄 at the park. I grabbed my pack and met up with Bobsled for a quick lap before other Pax arrive. The Brickyard Flag was flying proudly for all Pax to see.

0500 – Wentworth rolled up and joined Bobsled and I on a pre-ruck 🎒 to burn off some of that turkey roulade he was bragging about on Thanksgiving Day 😋. No pre-runners showed up. Bobsled and Wentworth helped me set up the workout stations at Sonny’s before heading back to the Flag.

0530 – Finally, we’re ready for Thanksgiving leftovers. It’s cold out and we need to start move to heat up! So, we get right to it… F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. And of course the mission of F3 is to Plant, Serve, and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. Next, we talked about the five core principles of F3: 1) open to ALL men, 2) always Free, 3) always held outdoors, 4) lead in a rotating fashion (high fashion thanks to Bobsled’s Urban Camo clothing selection today 👔), and ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).

Good news! We had an FNG (Jimmy) who was EH’d by Snidely. Jimmy was happy to be here!

Next, I rolled out our Credo for everyone’s benefit, as we will, “Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him.” I reminded everyone of the disclaimer that I am not a professional fitness instructor, so modify as necessary, especially if you’re new to coupon workouts.

0532 Warm-a-rama:

Tappy taps 10IC, plus 1 because I can’t count or listen rather

Big Ones 10IC

Michael Phelps 10IC

Sun Gods, forward 10IC and reverse 10IC

Mosey to Sonny’s w/ Coupons

0537 The Thang

Here we had Thanksgiving Leftovers, which was a little bit of everything. This was a six-station grinder were we partnered up for to do AMRAP before calling Omaha.

Six Stations

25 Incline Merkins (using landscaping blocks)

10 Stationary Lunges w/ coupons

25 Johnny Dramas w/ coupons

25 Derkins on hill

25 Squat Thrusters w/ coupons

25 Curls w/ coupons

Each team worked its way around the six stations, and after completing a full circuit, they took a slow lap around Sonny’s and started all again. We got about three to four circuits in before calling Omaha.

0607 6MOM:

We mosey back to Stinson Park. We hold a 60 second plank by counting off by the Pax. We then did a round of American Hammers Rancid Style, but in my excitement to wrap up, I accidentally skipped Bambi, so we did one more to make up for it.

We did Name-o-Rama…

Tassels (Respect), Bambi, Mint Julep, Wentworth, FNG Jimmy = Monarch, Bobsled, Caruso (Respect x 2), Royale, and Snidely.

We ended up naming FNG Jimmy “Monarch” after his favorite swimming stroke, the Butterfly. And because we didn’t know any other type of butterfly. Solid logic, don’t question it… you weren’t there!

Announcements:

Oscar Mike on Saturday at Sandlot w/ Parsecs

Coronado on Monday w/ Baskin and Snidely

Abide sign-up on Slack, Dec 9

Canned goods donations still being accepted, give to Qs or bring to Sarpy sites

Prayers:

Caruso – safe travels for everyone this holiday weekend

Tassels – prayers for his grandfather at Nebraska Med recovering from surgery that removed his pacemaker. He’ll have another day or two before being released.

Royale – recently found out that son was diagnosed to be on the spectrum and his son is having some difficulty coping with news.

Bobsled – was vunerable about relationship change and needs support from Pax.

Other prayers I forgot to mention or that were unsaid

Circle of Trust:

I am mentoring four college freshmen at UNL right now. It has been rewarding so far. We also had the opportunity to allow a college freshman to job shadowing my railroad design group earlier this week. By being a mentor and inviting students to job shadow, you’re helping them figure out the next step in a vocation or career. Many of us in the Pax are older (and wiser) and we should help the younger generation figure that out. I encouraged people to take a more active role in inviting people to shadow them at their jobs. It’s a rewarding feeling when the student that shadowed us felt like he learned a lot more about the industry despite having yet to take an engineering class. To me and my team, that’s a win! 🏆

I closed it out in prayer before heading to coffee. Despite some miscues from me, my team kept things moving. We met HIM from The Woodshed over at Roast to warm back up and engage in some mumblechatter.
