PAX (7): Peel, Vlassic, Barbwire, Bambi, House Arrest, Kickstand, Hard Hat

Q: Hard Hat

Weather: Feels like 21 on the weather apps was very misleading. Everyone thought it seemed warmer than it was. There was a fair amount of ice, and someone may have slipped on it as they wrapped up the prerun.

Welcome: At 5:15 the PAX were welcomed and we went through the usual intro. Then we took our weights over to the basketball court and set up home base.

Warm-a-Rama consisted of some weighted dynamic exercises. We lined up on the edge of the court and then performed the exercises to the edge of the picnic area to the South. First exercise was Nut Draggers (duck walk with you weights between your legs). Then we did skips, lunge walk, and rifle carry.

First Thang: King S*** Miguel: Miguel is Dora’s brother or boyfriend or whatever. We didn’t do a Dora, we did King S*** Miguel. Like a Dora, you have a partner and you perform exercises to a specific combined rep count, and while one partner is doing the exercise, the other is doing something else. We did 100 chest press while our partner Nut Dragged to the picnic area and back. Then 200 single count Flutter Kicks with our partner skipping. Then 300 air squats while our partner lunge walks. All done with your weights. The last part of this really set in a nice burn.

Second Thang: Rotating exercise selections. One guy calls out an exercise for everyone else to do AMRAP while he either runs the loop around the park, or sprints to the sidewalk East of the courts and back. We did a few rounds of this, and everyone chose to sprint to the sidewalk rather than jog the lap.

Omaha was called and we made our way back to the flags. We closed things up with announcements about the Gradoville Scholarship event coming up on February 26, and CSAUP signup.

The COT was about it being a new year and utilizing this group to help you get better. I was able to vent to Barbwire on the prerun about some crap I’ve been dealing with at work that has been exhausting. Use these guys to help you deal with the tough things. I was also reminded earlier in the week, while teaching a leadership course, to reflect on why you do what you do. Reminding yourself of why you chose your career, why you carry yourself a certain way, or why you want to get better, are all great ways to help course correct if you feel like things are getting off track.

Aye!
