Weather: Warm for early March, like low 50s.

Welcome: At 05:30:00 the group was greeted. We had a new guy, Carlo, and welcomed him to the group. The intro was stated, and the group was informed that we’d check out some under utilized features of the AO, then have some fun.

Warm-a-Rama: We stayed by the flags and did 25 SSH in cadence. We then counted off, to get the count for the entire group. The first 14 guys were told they would be one group, then the next 13 would be another group. We mosey’s across the bridge and over to the playground.

The Thang: Push Yourself – At the playground, we go in two single file lines. The group was instructed the thing of their max rep pull-up amount. Once everyone was comfortable with their number, they were told to tell the guy behind them what their number was. Then they were instructed to add 2 reps to that number. The guy at the front of each line then goes and does his pull-ups, trying to hit that max rep count plus two. Max out regardless, even if you go past your number. While they were doing their pull-ups, everyone else is doing AMRAP monkey humpers. Once the guy doing pull-ups finishes, he goes to the back of the line, and the next guy up does his pull-ups, and so on, until everyone has completed their pull ups.

Once we were finished with that, we moseyed up the trail into the neighborhood. We stopped at the intersection of Washington and 171st St. Here the group was informed that we’d Bernie up Washington St. to the next intersection, jog down, then sprint up, then jog back. Once completed with that, Al Gore until the 6 is in.

After this little bit of hill work, we moseyed over to Y St. and to the soccer fields. There were cones lit up at the corners of one field. We planked til the 6 came in, then broke into two teams. A light up soccer ball was illuminated, and the rules of “Bear vs Crab” were explained. One team bear crawls, only moving the ball by means of hitting/slapping the ball with a hand. The other team crab walks, only moving the ball by means of kicking it with a foot. Clarification was provided that 3 points of contact must be with the ground at all times. Two hand and two feet. No knees, no butts, etc. The field was large, so we had space to work. After each goal, the positions were changed. Every team that was bears, scored. The result of the game was a draw. Crabs never scored.

Circled up by the flags, we did the ABC’s for our Mary exercise.

There were announcements about the Clover Convergence, and probably some other stuff I forgot about. The COT was about surrounding yourself with others to help you do more/grow. I forgot the African proverb at the time, about “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The point of the pull up exercise was to push you past what your perceived limit was. We do these things all the time in F3 without always realizing it. When you go on a pre-run and push the pace a bit, because someone is there with you. When you do more reps than you thought you could, because maybe you got called on to count them out. Whatever the case is, you’re doing more than you would have if you’d try to do it on your own. Sometimes I envy the people that seem to be able to push themselves to crazy heights, all without the support of others. Those people are not the majority, and for most of us, we thrive more with a group. It’s easy for us to think about this when it comes to exercise. Think about this in the other aspects of your life. What are you trying to tackle alone in work, with your family, at church, or wherever? Can you surround yourself with others in those situations that can help you push your limits and raise your ceiling? If so, start figuring out how to do that.

Aye!
