Labor Day at Mission Forge

Date: September 5, 2022

PAX (16): EA, Escobar, Tax Man, Ketchup, Irish Car Bomb, Band Camp, Rowdy, Barbershop, Skidz, Griswold, KOA, Mufasa, Hard Hat, Yogi, Bayside, FP

FNGs: None

AO: Mission Forge

Q: Fine Print (No Respect)

Conditions: Clear, 61 degrees F, Feels like 62 degrees F. Humidity 95%. Wind 5.0 mph from ESE.

I arrived early to get set up. There were a few cars in the lot which meant some HIMs were smurphing. I noticed some patches of fog as I moseyed around the site setting out some cones and lights. Once set up I stopped by to say hi to the smurphers before a short run to try and loosen up my legs which were still stiff and sore from IPC.

At 5:30 sharp, YHC welcomed the PAX to Mission Forge and recited the 5 core principles, credo and mission statement.

Warm-O-Rama: The PAX moseyed to the basketball courts for warm-o-rama consisting of Side Straddle Hops, Tappy Taps, Big Ones and Arm Circles

Thang: Split into 3 groups for a grinder. Group 1 and 2 did the below exercises on opposite ends of the park while Group 3 (the push group) ran a .3 mile route through the neighborhood to push Group 1.

Group 1:

20 Air Squats

20 Low Dollies

15 Monkey Humpers IC

10 Nolan Ryan’s Each Side IC

20 Jump Squats

Group 2:

20 Merkins

15 Flutter Kicks IC

20 Carolina Drydocks

15 Gas Pumpers IC

20 Shoulder Taps IC

Some of my favorite PAX were present this morning. I knew there’d be some laughter and 4th F flowing. There was quite a bit of mumble chatter going on during this holiday beatdown. In YHCs group, Skidz screwed up nearly every set, well done, Skidz. That takes talent. We heard some interesting stories about absent PAX member, Pea Soup, to whom this workout would later be dedicated. We heard Hard Hat drop a few uncharacteristic F bombs, including saying “F*ck you, FP!”, one of my favorite F3 moments to date.

After the beatdown, we would spend 15-20 minutes picking up the park to keep this AO beautiful.

Prayers and Announcements

Prayers for Griswold’s M as she is travelling this week. Also, prayers for Griswold as his M is travelling this week. Godspeed Griswold!

COT

Today is Barn Door’s 3 year (congrats BD!) so YHC ripped a page out of his playbook. I called on the 6th man to share a bit about himself with the PAX. Rowdy was a good sport and shared his overcoming adversity story with the PAX. Mufasa can’t count and contended Band Camp was the 6 and should have been sharing. After explaining to Mufasa why he was wrong (per usual), YHC asked Band Camp to share as well. We learned that Band Camp travels a lot for his interesting job as a computer forensics guy. Band Camp HC’d to help us clean up our hard drives.

Mufasa passed the Nugent Flag to Irish Car Bomb. As is tradition when Mufasa passes the Nugent Flag, ICB’s punishment is he has to go to lunch w/ Mufasa. Prayers for ICB.

Slainte!
