The Octagon
Honorable, Inspiring, and Praiseworthy

Intro: Introduce the five principles, mission statement, no FNGs
Pax in attendance: Lansbury, Bloodshot, Golden Pike, Ice-T
Warmarama: 15 SSHs, 15 Tappy Taps, 15 Imperial Walkers
Pre-Thang: Listened to “Just a Friend” by Biz Markie, doing Hillbillies until the chorus when we did burpees. Though the song was under 4 minutes, it was a relief to reach the end of the song.
Thang: We did 100s for the beatdown. Given there were only four of us, and we wanted mumble chatter, we modified to “for awhiles” meaning that when we got tired of an exercise, we stopped and ran a loop.
Music selection was all One-Hit Wonders, and the pax enjoyed guessing the artists and referencing where they were in life when the songs came out. Really great conversation pieces.

COT: On Memorial Day, we remember those service members who gave their lives for our country. As many of them are relatively young, that ultimate sacrifice is what they are remembered for. And that gift is honorable, inspiring, and praiseworthy. Less dramatic though similar, one-hit wonders work for years to perfect their skills, and many are ultimately known for having contributed 3-5 minutes of music to the collective experience. These contributions are also honorable, inspiring, and praiseworthy, as most people do not achieve even that level of contribution to society. As you go forth today, consider what it is you will be known for, and make sure it is honorable, inspiring, and praiseworthy.
