COT:

I recently watched a documentary on climbing and in it they quoted a French climber named Lionel Terray who said we were all ‘Conquistadors of the useless.’ This man fought in WWII, saved lives, and was the first person ever on the peak of several mountains all over the globe. He still found time to admit that there were things worth conquering that were useless. Useless, but not pointless. Excelling and conquering the challenges we face or even the seemingly trivial things in our lives may sometimes feel useless, but never pointless. The first time I heard the phrase ‘Conquistadors of the useless’ was on a song and it’s stuck with me ever since. The verse in the song is about doing hard things for yourself and in pushing through challenges you learn more about yourself and grow beyond what you were.
