Announcements/COT:

COT:  After three years of participating and leading beatdowns it’s easy to slip into the same-old routines, same warm-a-ramas, pre-thangs, and thangs. This isn’t all bad.  My institutional memory helps me become better at specific tasks, delivering a more efficient beatdown! That’s also why the older we get the better we get at our respective jobs. But with this institutional brain there can also be a danger of staleness and a lack of creative thinking. When we’re young we have an elastic brain, thinking creatively about a number of things – this is because everything we encounter is new, every situation and relationship a new puzzle to be solved. The closest we sometimes get to that as an older adult is when we travel to new location. But we can find other ways to make your brain more elastic. Seek out new experiences, read authors you disagree with or see the world in a completely different way, seek out relationships with people you ordinarily wouldn’t.  By doing this you can grow and find the newness in life that keeps it fresh.
