COT:

I talked about my survivors guilt. It’s sometimes tough to process through everything. I can hear about all the struggles and loss around us. I always hope that people will live and return healthy but that isn’t the case in a lot of situations. I’m battling the thoughts of having lived through all of the destructive behaviors surrounding drugs and alcohol that it’s tough to admit that the man I was, was not worth saving. It’s the difference that’s in me now that makes me want to not squander the opportunity of life. Just thankful having a community to lean on and provide so much mental and spiritual support. It’s been amazing without even having to discuss the issues to just have a community around to allow me to not think about the situation. It’s also just great to feel as though I’m not wasting the gift of life that I’ve.been granted. And it allows me an avenue of communication and healing through a healthier lifestyle and mindset as opposed to shutting down and drinking or smoking or both. Through my newly added community I have found strength.
