Title: “A Father’s Priorities”

Total PAX: (19)

Q: G String

At 0515, G String welcomed the PAX to F3, stating they found themselves at Stormbreaker.  G String stated that F3 stands for fitness, followship, and faith.  He covered 5 core principles – it’s free, open to all men, always outside, it’s led in a rotating fashion, and it ends in a circle of trust.  He told them that we leave no man behind and no man where we found him.  G String stated the Mission Statement of F3 – to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.  He claimed to not be a professional and asked that PAX modify as necessary.  He asked if there were any FNG’s and there were none.

Warm a Rama:

G String had the group mosey over to the elementary school’s parking lot for 10 cherry pickers, 10 big ones, 10 tappy taps, and a 10 second quad stretch. They then moseyed to the playground on the north/back side of the school where he explained the beatdown.

I shared a quote that I had heard that I felt was relevant to this week being fathers’ day and all. “Your fatherhood will outlive you and live inside your children forever.” This is essentially what a legacy is. I explained to the group that I have a lot of projects I’ve been working on at the house and I feel a sense of pressure to get them done now that Summer is upon us. My wife told me that she was taking the kids to the zoo on Sunday and I could have a day to work on the house projects. I told her she was crazy for taking three little kids to the zoo but I appreciated the time to focus on the work. As the day progressed, I didn’t feel productive. When my wife got home later that evening and asked how the day went I said it was ok, and I was rather frustrated with how it went. I realized afterwards that the stem of my mood was simply because I missed out on time with my family and a fun day at the zoo. My kids won’t remember the fact that I painted some walls in our master bathroom, but they’ll remember the splash pad excitement from their zoo day, and dad wasn’t there.

While there is a time and place to focus on projects to get them done, there’s something to say about setting those things aside and enjoying the kids when they’re young. I’m going to work on prioritizing my time to have the right legacy with my kids. I asked that other fathers do the same.

G String prayed us out. – Aye!
