COT
I started by asking the PAX if they remember the last 5 teams to win the Super Bowl, the last 5 winners of the Heisman Trophy, or the last 5 Best Picture Winners. There was a little mumble chatter about various teams, players, and not much about the movies. Then after the PAX finished muttering about that stuff, I asked who remembers the teacher, mentor, or coach that told them they believed in them or that they could accomplish something. My two examples were my Scoutmaster, My Brennan, who looked me in the eye and told me he believes I could be an Eagle Scout and my track and field coach, Greg Wells (RIP) who told his track team he believed they could win the state team championship with a certain gameplan…all the while battling cancer. These two men did not let their own busy lives or problems keep them from being leaders and supporting their families. Coach Well’s only regrets were not being able to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding and watching his son graduate high school. I ended with reminding the PAX that often awards and trophies are insignificant and trivial compared to those people who have made a important and positive impact in our lives.
Prayer – YHC
