6:00 Gipper welcomed all PAX members and FNGs to the beautiful gloom. He listed off the 5 core principles, mission statement and credo. He mentioned that he is not a professional and that all exercises are a suggestion and to modify if needed. Also he mentioned that from this point forward, you are assuming a very real risk of injury. We then moseyed to the open field on the east side of the duck pond for the Warm-O-Rama.

We moseyed to the soccer fields (East side of Park) where we broke into two groups and completed the Gipper special: Tunnel of Love. Each team had their leading PAX at the end line of the field…once any PAX reached the other end line the race was over. Winning group got to do LBCs while the losing group enjoyed 10 burpees.
After some Love action, we circled up and enjoyed another Gipper staple: The Steinl.

6:30 Chernobyl’s Thangs
The Pax paired up with someone at their fitness level for a 2-man grinder. Exercises included: 300 Merkins, 200 Big Boys, 100 Pistol Squats (50 each leg). Partners did exercises together and between each exercise, they ran up the hill, on the trails and ran to the 72nd St bridge and back. Then we returned back to the shovel flags for some Sarpy slammers and the COT.

Gipper shared his journey over the past year. He then passed the shovel onto Chernobyl where he shared these words:
Everyone has their F3 story, some are longer than others, but everyone has one. For me, I’ve been a part of this leadership group for a little over a year now and it has been life changing….TOO THE BONE.
Fitness brought me in, Firewalker and the Dip Brothers were working away at me until I finally caved thinking “I guess I’ll see what these crazy guys are all about, running outside the high school in the snow in January.”
I didn’t know what I didn’t know.
I’ve found runners that kick my ass every morning and give me something to strive for, I’ve found brothers I’ve been able to sweat with and share the gloom with, I’ve found guys almost pass out on their first murph, I’ve found FNGs come to find this same group of men just like I did a year ago.
It is amazing the impact you all have on me and each other.
I was reflecting this week on what I wanted to say and Plague shared a snip it from The Band of Brothers book, which got me to thinking the answer to the question “Why F3”. Every guy you try to EH asks you this same question, but I never took the time to reflect on it…I mean, REALLY REFLECT on it.
But as I’ve been thinking, the answer is WHY NOT? Why not get out of the same funk you’ve been living in for the past 20 years. Why not find people that will support you every step of the way on your journey to improving yourself. Why not lose a few extra pounds you’ve committed yourself to losing every January but end of failing short on and giving up after a few months. Why not find another brother fighting some mental battle you know nothing about and encourage him like he was your ACTUAL BROTHER. Why not be a part of the best text channel on the face of the planet.
And why not be a part of something where you can actually be you. Not the version of you when you’re at work trying to get a promotion of the version of you that lies to everyone around you to save the humility and pride of not being good enough. But instead the version that’s authentic and real, the version that cries, fails, laughs, hurts, and cares. Real emotions are shared in F3 and it’s not just celebrated, but encouraged.
I’m to the point now that every time I see a new FNG that sticks around for the long haul, I think thats another guy that’s now living his best life. I know how it’s changed mine, and I’m excited to see it change theirs too.
I’m thankful to you guys that EH’d me, I’m thankful for you guys that have reached out to me in my highs and lows, and I’m forever greatful for allowing me to be the person I want to be, no questions asked, and an offer to meet up for a beer later if I’m up to it. #FairyNectar
I’m excited for this site and the year to come and I want to thank you all for being here. God is Good All the Time…and all the time…God is Good.
