6-27-2022 0530 AO: The Octagon  Weather: 70

PAX: Chariot, Redacted, Nodule, BetaMax, Ice Tea, Khakis, Gloden Pike, Honeymaid, Spacebar

QIC: Rollbar

YHC woke up extra early this morning. The mission was to load up all the heavy toys in the collection for what promised to be the heaviest beatdown in the history of F3 Omaha. I arrived at the AO moments after the pre-runners and ruckers departed and unloaded the implements of woe that I was about to introduce to the PAX.

As Go Time approached the PAX gathered and YHC introduced himself and shared the Principles, Mission, and gave particular attention to the disclaimer, the Smurphers joined the circle.  Counting off, we took a short mosey and jumped right into Warm-O-Rama.

Warm-O-Rama:

10 Burpees

SSHx20ic

Copperhead Squats x15ic

Abe Vigoda x10ic

Cherry Pickers x25ic

We moved onto the football field and I explained the layout which we quickly modified to fit the number of PAX in attendance.

The Thang: Rollbar’s Toybox

Station 1: 60&80lb sandbags (push station) (an ode to the Spartan 300)

10 Burpees

100-yard Lunge walk w/ Sandbag

Station 2: The Beast (Log PT is FUN!)

Shoulder to shoulder press x15

Team curls x15

Team squats x15

Station 3: 60lb Sandbags

Throw over the fence (w/partner) x10 (Each)

Tricep extension x15

Deadlift x15

Station 4: Rucks

Ruck swings x15

Squat thrusters x15

Flutter kicks w/ ruck overhead x15

All together the gear used in today’s workout totaled 660lbs! The 3 man groups had to modify the Beast station a little due to the weight (I had hoped for teams of 4!), but I think everyone got a very difficult beatdown out of this!

COT:

“If you want to make a society work, then you don’t keep underscoring the places where you’re different- You Underscore your shared humanity. “ Sebastian Junger

I’ve been pretty troubled watching the reaction to last’s week’s SCOTUS news, mostly the emotional way that I’ve seen some people lash out against even family or lifelong friends that they find themselves in opposition against in this. I felt this quote was a fitting reinforcement of how we, as HIM, should be dealing with this.

Regardless of whether you disagree with a friend or family member on most any issue, the key to treat them with humanity and love. Be conversational, be open to changing your mind if presented with a sound argument, but most of all remember that you love the person you’re talking with and behave in that light. Do not make the mistake of dehumanizing someone out of anger. Be an #Andist (Go listen to Dredd’s Minivan Centurion pod if you don’t already). The world needs men that lead with love and grace, men that have strong beliefs but hold them loosely. Be those men today.
