Title: “Blessings in Disguise”
Total PAX: (2)
Q: G String
Prerunners: G String and Stranglehold
At 0515, G String welcomed Stranglehold to F3 Omaha’s Bell Tower. G String stated that F3 stands for fitness, followship, and faith. He covered 5 core principles – it’s free, open to all men, always outside, it’s led in a rotating fashion, and it ends in a circle of trust. He told them that we leave no man behind and no man where we found him. G String stated the Mission Statement of F3 – to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. He claimed to not be a professional and asked that PAX modify as necessary. He asked if there were any FNG’s and there none.
Warm a Rama:
THe two PAX chatted a bit while doing some sun gods IC and a couple big ones. No one else showed, so they started their mosey to the south side of the school where they’d stop for a prething.
Prething: 7’s – Bear crawl and crawl bear curb to curb, exercises include Mike Tysons and groiners
After completing this, they were warmed up and continued to the west parking lot where the thing was set up.
The Thing: Partner grinder.
Perform 30 reps of each exercise, then run the cone course, which consisted of a short mosey then shuffling side to side in a zig zag pattern back to the starting point.
Exercises included jump squats, T merkins, big boys, hillbilly walkers, raise the roofs, shoulder taps, sumo squats, flutter kicks.
The two busted the thing out quickly, leaving about 13 minutes for some more moseying around the school grounds when G String finally called Omaha at 5:53.
Name-o-Rama: Stranglehold and G String
FNG’s: none
Announcements: flag pass at the brick yard today. Donut run tomorrow.
Prayers/Intentions: Levy’s mom/family. Stranglehold’s mom and sister.
COT: Switch to first person… This past month has been tough for me and my M. I wasn’t sure what was bothering me so I decided to write down several things that we had going on this month and decided that I could switch my mindset and look at each thing as a blessing. Here’s a list I shared.
Struggles of May:
– Kids activities:
o Baseball – 2-3 times a week
o Baseball photos
o Dance recital
o 2.0’s field day
o Preschool graduation
– Last day of Pre school
– Last day of first grade
– Childhood best friend’s wedding
– Nurses week + Mother’s day + M’s birthday
– Hiring a nanny (or two) for the summer
– Mom’s retirement
– Daughter’s birthday
– Bathroom remodel underway
– Getting our garden planted and established
Blessings of May:
– I get the opportunity to coach my son and influence other littles with baseball
– We were able to document our son’s first year of baseball with photographer
– My daughter felt like a superstar at her first dance recital in an actual theater
– I was fortunate to be part of my 30+ year friend’s wedding
– I have a woman in my life worth celebrating.
– My job is flexible enough (or I make sure to adjust my schedule enough) to go and support my son at his field day.
– That same day was my daughter’s preschool graduation and to see her smiling face when she looked out and saw both her mom and me sitting there was priceless.
– To experience the hype and see my daughter actually excited to move on to kindergarten is something I am very grateful for and proud of.
– My son completed his second year at the school and he says that he really loves his school and the friends he’s made. There’s not much more a parent could ask for a child.
– While we were jumping through hoops to get a nanny for the summer, we were able to get our neighbor who’s a freshman in college to commit along with one of her best friends, both of which have proven to be great with our kids. This will hopefully provide my M and I some more flexibility with our mornings and end of day routines.
– My mom has taught for 41 years and is now retiring. We’re able to celebrate this accomplishment with her in her healthy state.
– My daughter’s birthday – I might have 10, maybe 12 until she’s probably going to be too cool for us to spoil her the way we do now.
– We’re undergoing a major bathroom remodel. Have been for about 2 years, but we’re finally making a big push to wrap things up. It’s crazy but we’re creating a new, loving, comfortable home for our family and future families.
– We’re big gardeners. It’s stressful getting it done this time of year but the time spent in the garden in the coming months is therapeutic and I know we’ll enjoy it.
G String prayed us out and the two enjoyed the abundance of coffee from Bellevue’s best coffee truck. Aye!
