Backblast Trident: No Leader Left Behind

17 PAX:  Robin Hood, Arm Bruh, Chiclets (Respect), Retweet, Lemu (Respect), Old Style (FNG), Chip N Dale, Rowdy, Hoser,Mother Goose, Paddles (Respect), Almost Famous, Room Service, Slick, Blades of Glory, Chitworth, Slow Pitch

Q: Slow Pitch

Weather: Too nice to not be outside

Slow Pitch showed up right at 5:00 and drove down the back street that he had the night before and set up his, kick ass, light up cones, with exercises attached. He then parked the car and ran out the routes for the Warmarama and between the three locations, which happened to be the three roundabouts along the back road. They were later referred to during the explanation of Thang as the Three Circles, which were in reference to absolutely nothing. The Q recognized there will be enough running for today’s workout.

16 other Pax arrived a touch before the start time Slow Pitch met Cole, the FNG, that Chip N Dale convinced to bring out. In factthere was a gaggle of guys the Q wasn’t very familiar with, so, we went over the mission statement, the three F’s, the five core principles and that Slow Pitch wasn’t a professional. Away we went to warmarama and moseyed to the parking garage ramp.

Warm-a-Rama:

WarmaBernies: Slow Pitch dislikes a Warmarama standing around spinning arms like a three-year-old and prefers to get his heart rate up while spinning his arms like a three year old.

Bernie up parking ramp with forward sun gods.

Bernie up parking ramp with backward sun gods.

Bernie up parking ramp with cherry pickers.

Bernie up parking ramp with overhead claps.

Bernie up parking ramp with seal claps.

Bernie up parking ramp with air presses.

Before taking of for the Thang we numbered off and paired up. This was going to be your battle buddy for the entire workout. You will not leave that partner (Leader) for the rest of the workout.

Thang: Mosey to first roundabout for instruction.

There are five exercises at each circle, aka “The Three Circles” not to be confused with any relation to the Trident and there were 50 reps for each exercise. If someone completes all exercises, they will have done 750 reps while running about eight miles. We’ll give it a shot, why not.

First circle: 50 Squats, 50 (IC) Monkey Humpers and three others we never got to.

Second circle: 50 Big Ones, 50 (IC) Flutter Kicks and three others we never got to.

Third circle: 50 Burpees, 50 Merkins and three others we didn’t have a chance at sniffing.

Observations: 50 Burpees at 3rd circle, squash idea of getting too far in total 750 rep goal. 50 (IC) Humpers created a wobble before running 1/3 of a mile up hill. Another nice moment was when Slick showed up and became Slow Pitch’s partner. SP was originally an odd man out and was tagging along with a couple of other groups, but when Slick arrived, it was a pleasant blessing. Slick had been up in the middle of the night, being a dad, then ran into an alarm challenge. These are the moments the Q loves to hear about. Late night dadding didn’t keep him out of the gloom, just delayed his arrival. There’s a saying: “you’re only late for your first one,” that can be applied here.

Omaha: 6:07, had to mosey quick to the flags.

COT: In Free to Lead, second edition there are essays from individual pax members and one that inspired me was written by Drop Trill, titled “No Leader Left Behind”

“The credo of F3 is, “leave no man behind, but leave no man where you find him. “Not only does that apply in the area ofthe First F, Fitness, but also to leadership.

We don’t look at a less-skilled leader and leave him behind. No, we come up beside him and encourage him to step forward and learn the skills to lead. He’ll fail, but that’s just an opportunity to learn and get back up and try again, and hopefully do it correctly the next time.

The Mission of F3 is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.

What that means to me is that many men in our world have never been equipped to lead themselves, their family, their community and at work.

But with F3, men can learn how to lead, learn how toinfluence others, and learn how to Live Third.

Thank you to all the leaders and Pax of F3 who refused to leave me where they found me as a leader. I hope I can do the same for the men who follow in my footsteps.”

Today was about just this very credo. We were with our battle buddy and were not to leave a single leader behind. No one did. There were all levels of fitness partnered with other leaders of different levels. There was encouragement, pushing, discomfort, smiling, chatter and laughter. Everyone completed the workout and made it back to the flags. Without men like you, I wouldn’t make it back to the flags.  Thank you for not leaving the leader behind!

Prayer by Retweet.

Grateful to not be left behind today! – Slow Pitch
