Backblast – The Armory – 05/20 – Time to make the right choice
Q: Yodel
Temp: 53 degrees – just perfect
PAX – 27: Slick, Tonight Show, Gator, Blades of Glory, Slap Shot, Fine Print, Vlasik, Big Unit, Lincoln Log, Greenhouse, Dakine, Dr Thunder, Thor, Painkiller, Escobar, Muffs, Pit Stop, Barn Door, Truly, Schnitzel, Tea Party, Zeeboo, Chowder, Patchy Adams, Romeo, Blackflag, Yogi, Ozark,
Yodel prepared an amazing selection of songs and let the pax decide between two of them before hitting them with a beatdown.
After an epic opening with the Jurassic Park theme, they started with the pre-vote and picked Rammstein over Aerosmtih while we did a nice tunnel of love around the tank/. We found 2 coupons, so naturally, we did the pre-thang: The pax did a wall sit using each other’s back as the wall and selected to listen to the Austrian anthem while passing around coupons.
We then did some donkey kicks, followed by the first vote:
Backstreet Boys vs N’Sync: The pax love N’sync, so we did side straddle hops during the song and burpess when they sang “bye” and “baby”.
Vote 2: 2Pac vs Eminem: Eminem lost, so we did planks and alternating shoulder tabs
Vote 3: Kelly Klarkson vs Sia: Sia won, so we did deep Squats during the song and some squat jumps when she sang “unstoppable”.
Vote 4: Lou Bega vs Bob Marley: WE did Box cutters during Bob Marley’s song and when we heard “ little” we did Turkish get ups.
Last but not least, the PAX wanted to listen to Coolio and not to Roxette, so we did Marrokean night clubs and hand release push ups to top off a nice beatdown.
Back at the shovel flag we did American hammers and Yodel started with his COT after the namorama and the prayer request:
Seeing the tank this morning made my choice for my cot topic easy and I chose to share my anger, frustration, and pain with you this morning. I am aware that some of you might disagree with what I am about to say.
On May 8th, Nazi Germany officially surrender and lost the second world war, Good defeated evil, The free world won. We as a nation, no we as the free world made a lot of really hard choices to defeat Hitler. My grandma also had to make a choice and I want to share her story with you:
My grandma shared not a lot of stories about the second world war, but she shared this: french soldier
1939 – Sept 1 –> Hitler invaded Poland – the West sit there and watched while he killed 66,000 people – we made the choice not to interfere.
During the WW2 Between 40 and 50 Million People died – mainly, because we made bad choices and elected Hitler, but also because we waited too long to stop him.
Why does this matter now, why does it matter today? Why the heck should we care today?
2014 – March –> Putin invader Krim –> the West sat there and watched –> Germany announced Nordstream 2 at the same time! They made the choice to put profits over people’s lives. They even made the choice to start a foundation for the project to bypass US sanctions. Nobody forced them, they chose to do so.
2022 – Feb 22nd –> Putin invaded Ukraine –> the West chose not to do anything about it – we made the choice to still buy gas and oil from a mass murderer and we still wire billions of dollars every week or even daily to Russia
So far, several thousand civilians died, women get raped by the hundreds from Russian soldiers, children get killed. We had a choice, but we didn’t chose the right thing.
If I were to hold a min of silence for each dead civilian in the Ukraine, we would be quiet for almost 3 days. If we would do it for each victim from WW2 we would be silent for 76 years!!!!!!
Why am I sharing this with you?
Am I the only one who feels like we might experience 1939 all over again? Well, we do have the EU now, but this needs to stop. We need to get together as one Western front and make the choice put an end to this. This is why I played the European anthem earlier We need to make the right choice so Democracy can win over autocracy, the free world needs to succeed. The killing and raping must stop! We cannot let Russia win, and we cannot let China win. If we don’t chose do something now we might be telling a similar story like the one from my grandma to our grand kids – the only difference is that nobody might be left to tell the story to.
This is why it is important to make the right choice, although it might be a hard choice to make.
Then, Yodel prayed us out.
SYITG, Yodel
