Location: Westside High =s.
PAX: Khakis, Slow Pitch, Vanilla Ice, Knoxville, Dirty Bird, Ice T, Edison, Spacebar, Bambi, Tugboat, Tin Cup, Invictus.
QIC: Invictus
Weather was mild, 32 deg.
0500 – Pre run – no pre runners, I just did laps around the track for 20 min before meeting the PAX as they strolled in.
0530 – Multiple PAX gathered in as we started the intros.
Five Core Principles – Free, Open to ALL Men, Always Outside, Lead in a rotating fashion, and Ends in a Circle of Trust.
Credo – Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him.
The Mission of F3 is to Plant, Grow, and Serve small workouts groups for the reinvigoration of male community leadership.
QIC noted he was not a fitness professional so the PAX should modify the workout as needed.
Warm-a-rama: Lit parking lot.
15 SSH IC, 15 Imperial Walkers IC, 10 Big Ones.
Pre Thang: Lit Parking Lot.
We paired up and did a two man grinder with AMRAP squats at one end and the push man ran and did 3 burpees before heading back and sending his partner down for burpees. We did this for about 5 mins.
Thang 2 – Superbowl theme: Path around field.
4 Stations with a push group.
Station 1 – Push – 10 Jason Kelce Burpees. PAX were pop up and spread their arms like Jason Kelce did when he took his shirt off during the AFC championship game. Explaining how these would look to the PAX was nothing short of hilarious as other guys tried to offer up their own interpretations such as Travis Kelce burpees (Khakis, lol) and the like.
Station 2 – CHIEF’s Kingdom – 20 CDD’s, 20 Heels to Heaven, 20 Imperial Walkers, 20 E2K’s, 20 Flutter Kicks – Rinse and repeat if you got through before getting pushed.
Station 3– Training Camp – 20 High Knees, 20 Merkins, 20 Alt Lunges, 20 Big Boys – R&R
Station 4 – San Francisco Station – 49 LBC’s (single), 49 Air Squats – R&R
As the PAX moseyed around the stations, we all carried a football and the objective was to not fumble the ball or else that group had to drop and do 3 burpees as a penalty. As a group got back to Station 1 again, whoever was carrying the ball had to do a touchdown dance.
We got through about 2 rounds before OMAHA was called at 0605.
MARY – 2 rounds of Hammers, Rancid style.
NOR – see PAX list above.

In keeping with the theme of the morning, today’s message was about an inspiring message I had listened to from a former football player named Inky Johnson. He played safety for the University of Tennessee and was a standout player for just over a year. During the early part of his sophomore season, he got word that he was a projected first round pick for the NFL. As he was playing in the second game of the season, he went into a tackle and took at hit that damaged his subclavian artery. He lost the feeling in his right arm and lost some other motor functions in his right arm. Inky was in the hospital being told that he needed to be rushed to surgery or else he would die. When he awoke from surgery, the doctor said they had good news and bad news. Inky stopped them right there and said “wait, how could the news be bad? You just saved my life.” Long story short, his recovery from the final surgery was slated to take 40 days but he walked out of the hospital in 3 days. The doctors asked how he got through it so fast. Inky said “I would never let a circumstance or situation determine my life. Over time I had built up enough sweat equity to have enough commitment to stick with something I said I would do even when the feeling I had when I started was gone”. I felt that this feeling of commitment applies to our interpersonal relationships, careers, and hobbies and Inky’s message is a reminder of what determination and putting a mindset into practice are all about.
