Your Site Q – Ozark (YHC)

A 48-degree, 60% humidity morning with a westerly breeze.  YHC arrived to a lonely parking lot which soon warmed with the arrival of Tea Party.  Then Jump Street and Chowda followed for the pre-run.  We departed at 4:57 for a mosey down the hill.  Upon reaching the lake, we did an about face, then up to F Street, then made our way back to the shovel flag via Atlas for a near 2-mile pre-run. Mumble chatter was minimal with YHC describing Paradise Island and his first time there where Slow Pitch saddled up next to him, talking him through his first painful, running AO outing.

The Pre-runners made it back to the flag around 5:20 and, with that west wind, decided to await the new arrivals in front of the well-lit, non-descript building, stretching.  More PAX trickled in, including other first time Labyrinthers, 6 in total!!!  Patchy Adams snuck by YHC and was sitting behind him stretching, nearly tripping the Site Q!  Pretty sneaky Patchy…  Wait, where’s Gator?!?!  He orchestrated this whole thing!  Oh, here he comes.

Mumblechatter abounds…

At 5:30, YHC welcomes the 15 other PAX to t The Labyrinth.

Then covers the mission statement, core principles, and unprofessional disclaimer.  No FNGs.  Let’s Mosey.

YHC led the PAX north up the street, meandering through the neighborhood.  First round about encountered provides a great spot for Warm-A-Rama.  While trying not to interrupt happy mumble chatter, Ozark led cadence:

Side Straddle Hops (for warmth) – 10

Air Squats (Low and Slow FoF for quad and hammy warmth) – 10;

Modified Runner Stretch (On one knee, other leg extended in front, forehead to extended knee, slow 10 Count); then Switch legs (mixed mumblechatter – Gator and Ralphie engaged in lawyer speak)

Pigeons – each leg

Downward Dog, then Upward Dog into Howl at the Moon, repeat.

Mosey

Thang – Traditional String of Pearls

Mosey downhill (northeast) on George B Lake Pkwy to the next round-a-bout at the West O ever-present S HWS Cleveland Blvd.

25 Merkins

25 Gas Pumpers (as called by Gator)

Mosey

We continue northeast in the gloom as we descend to find the neighborhood’s homage to Blades of Glory, Grover Street.  We follow Grover Street over the dam, avoid a car back, and take 193rd south to the first cul-de-sac where the PAX circle up.  YHC leads another round of Merkins, this time 15, followed by 10 Werkins.  Cheap Seats calls for 20 LBCs.

Mosey

To F Street, head west to 194th, avoid another car back and set up for more Merkins.  15 followed by 10 Werkins.  Barn Door calls for 20 Freddy Mercurys and we listen to a curious, if not dubious, driver leaving the hood.

Mosey

The PAX continued west along F street and, sadly, bypassed the guard rails which are best suited for dips.  YHC intended a set of 50 but Atlas calls.

PAX find their way to the base of Atlas Hill where Men of La Maize are burping.  We give our salutations and head up hill, conveying Omaha to unaware Men of La Maize midway up at the Stop sign (happy to help guys…).

Finish Atlas to the shovel flags.

Time was tight, but enough for a quick Rancid style Hammers.

Name-o-Rama then:

Announcements – Poker Saturday night, check Slack and Twitter for details.  Shovel flag pass Tuesday at Wild Kingdom, let’s support Ketchup.  Mufasa may, or may not, fartsack.  TBD.

Prayers – For Steeple and his M, about to have a child.  For Shank.

COT:

YHC started by explaining that this morning turned out differently than was planned, not only the workout but the COT.  Which is fine, in fact, in this case, great!  Thanks to Gator and his nudging, 6 new PAX enjoyed their first taste of a running AO.  Three pre-ran with YHC, then did the 3 mile workout!  This is precisely what Gator and YHC had in mind when starting this site, so we’re excited and thankful it worked this morning.  We wanted a place where HIM can come for not just a 1st F experience, but a 2nd F also.  Slow Pitch says his favorite AO is Paradise (a running AO).  So much so he became the Site Q.  But he hates running!!!  It’s the 2nd F time he gets with the PAX that keeps him coming back.  We hope to provide that same 2nd F opportunity out west via the Labyrinth.  Byproduct of Labyrinth is, over time, you’ll find yourself in running shape which makes all else we do easier!  Now, 9 months or a year ago, if Gator had done this, i.e. – recruited new guys to my Q (that I’d planned out for more than a month), I’d have had that moment of “damn it!  I planned this awesome workout with speed and tempo and…”, but F3 changed this HIM such that the thought never even entered YHC’s mind when that text arrived.  Instead, excitement for new faces and new opportunities.  As YHC’s said, it’s been quite a transformational year.  Thank you, Gator and thank you PAX!!! Aye!

Enjoy this beautiful morning gentlemen.

YHC took us out in prayer.

Shalom Out – Ozark
