November 13, 2023 – World Kindness Day
11/13/2023: The Octagon 83% and 34 degrees.
Today we are encouraged to spread kindness like an infectious cold. We want to share it more than usual because studies show when others observe kindness in action, they are more likely to carry out an act of kindness, too.

After setup, I returned to the front parking lot to greet the assembling PAX. The convoy was showing up from Smurphing at the District, so I stalled for a minute or two to get everyone together. I welcomed the group, presented the mission, core principles, and disclaimers, and the PAX moseyed around the grounds once before grouping up in the Parking Lot for warm-a-rama.
Warm-A-Rama
5 Person Groups with 2 stations and a runner.
Station A: Alternating rounds of SSH and Sun Gods as AMRAP
Station B: Alternating rounds of Big Ones and Tappy Taps as AMRAP
Runners -Jog back and forth.
Pre Thang

The THANG
We relocated to the west parking lot where The Thang consisted of pairing up into groups of 6 and running a 3-man grinder in pairs to encourage mumble-chatter and to push your partner.

Message from the Q – Vandelay:
I have become somewhat dismayed at how people treat each other anymore. I also include myself in this critical analysis. I think we have become immune to really watching how we treat others, especially those that may or may not seem to matter to us – for any number of reasons.
I think we pay better attention to how we treat those that may help us, but not as much to those where we feel no personal gain from the experience.
We each have the potential to improve each other’s lives through understanding and kindness. Whether it’s a friend, family member, coworker, or stranger, our ability to show our humanity should be better utilized. I for one, need more work on this.
I challenge each of us today to be open in your ability to be outwardly kind to others. Buy a coffee, open a door, lend an ear. Whatever is needed – fill the gap. These aren’t heavy lifts.
