Temp: 53F, clear, light breeze
QIC: Parsecs
I arrived at 4:35, a moment or 2 late to get in a pre ruck Bobsled and Beans. I decided I would work on determining best location to set up for the day’s beatdown. A couple of guys showed up at 4:45 to run. While both groups were out, I set up 4 stations marked by cones near the doors on the south side of the parking lot. During set up, I was visited by Irish Car Bomb (ICB) and Simmons on their pre-run from the Dangerzone to plan ahead. Sounds like at least 8 are out pre-running from DZ elsewhere.
PAX: Double Dip, Fun Dip, Harding, Bobsled, G-String, Beans, Parsecs. And today’s crew from the Danger Zone eventually joined us.
I welcomed all to F3 Mount Olympus, noting that I was Substi-Q for 12 Guage who was down range for a family sporting event. I first noted that having recently Q’d the Brickyard, I had a Coupon beatdown readily available and that was what I was going to use for today’s workout. I mentioned that today was 12 Guage’s Birthday and then fumbled my way through the 5 Core Principals but get them all eventually. Free of Charge, Open to all men, always outside, peer led and ends in COT. I continuednoting that we leave no man behind but leave no man where we found them. Further our mission is to Plant, Grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.
Warm-A-Rama
No Formal Warm-a-rama. Rather we moseyed down to the shed to bring up all available coupons.
Pre Thang
Omitted. Went straight into the THANG.
The THANG
The THANG consisted of 4 AMRAP stations that had 4 exercises at each with generally 3 of the 4 exercises at each station being Coupon oriented (modify as necessary). Utilized a timer for one minute per exercise, then rotate to next station. Attendance allowed for 2 groups of 2 and one of 3 per station.
Station 1: Curls, OH Press, Bench Dips, Core – LBC’s with Coupon
Station 2: Alternating Lunges, Blockees, Run the small circle, Core – Plank
Station 3: Triceps Extension, Goblet Squats, Merkins, Core – Frozen Freddy
Station 4: Bent over Row, Murder Bunny, Flutter Kicks, Core – WW2 with Shoulder press
Time would have allowed for 2 complete cycles through all 4 stations before Omaha was called. However, the Crew of 25 PAX from Dangerzone were led to Mt. O by ICB as part of a plan that was originally arranged by him and 12 Guage. That was the extent of their plan, no actual plan was mentioned of what would happen other than folding in the DZ crew into the ongoing Coupon beat down.
Realizing we didn’t have enough coupons to support PAX, we opted to create a new station 5 that would be the push / run station running a lap around the whole main parking lot.
This process turned into a bit of chaos as 30 some PAX generate quite a bit of mumblechatter, especially when they aren’t yet familiar with the ongoing beat down in place. We all endured the chaos and worked our way through approximately 20 minutes of large group beat down before ICB called Omaha for DZ to run back to their AO. At that point, Mt. O continued through a few more minutes of Coupon work before Omaha was called. All extra coupons were returned to the shed.
Behind schedule, I opted to skip Sarpy Slammers and dove intoName O Rama, ensuring we provided birthday wishes to 12 Guage. After announcements/prayers/COT I had the privilegeof passing the Shield of Ares to Beans (count ‘em).
Announcements & Prayers:
● Freed to Bleed
● Lots of Cancer patients / families
● All new and expectant parents
● Bobsled / ICB’s mother in law
● Any mistakenly omitted and those prayers kept on our hearts
COT
I discussed how on short notice I happily agreed to Substi-Q and hadn’t formally prepared a COT but today’s COT wrote itself. I discussed how even in the best cases things don’t always go as planned. Things come up. Situations change. Chaos finds its way in. 25 extra PAX showed up without a coupon to a coupon beatdown. We only had about 15 or so extra coupons available. You can either focus on the chaos or focus on getting the task at hand done. That was exactly what today’s beatdown was. Rather than getting discouraged by mass chaos, I decided to simply enjoy it and roll with the punches. I played the cards that were dealt to me and still accomplished a task and had some fun while doing so.
As Han Solo would say…..I Got a Bad Feeling about this!
