QIC: Boss Hogg

I welcomed the PAX at 0515 and promptly covered the F3 Mission Statement, “The mission of F3 is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.”

We covered the five core principles:

  1. Free of charge
  2. Open to all men
  3. Held outdoors
  4. We are led in a rotating fashion
  5. We will end in a Circle of Trust

We covered that our credo is that we will leave no man behind, but leave no man where we found him

I reminded the PAX I am not a professional and to modify as necessary

Warm-O-Rama

We had a big crew this morning, so we moseyed about 40 yards north in the parking lot for more ample space. WOR included:

  • 10 Sun Gods IC (Forward and back)
  • 10 Seal Claps IC
  • 10 Overhead Claps IC
  • 10 Raise the Roofs IC
  • 10 Cherry Pickers IC
  • 10 Tappy Taps IC
  • 3 Motivators

The Thang

The PAX moseyed north, running around the school where we met at parking lot on the far NW part of the school’s campus. The PAX got into groups of three for the least creative beatdown ever. There was no Pre-Thang, we just jumped into a three-man grinder.

One cone had a mix of upper and lower body exercises (Merkins, Air Squats, Dry Docks, Alt Lunges, Werkins) and the other cone, about 100 yards away had a mix on core exercises. All of the exercises were to be done AMRAP until you were pushed and then you would move to the next exercise on the list the next time you returned to that cone. The goal was to burn out with as many reps as you could complete. The beauty of the three-man grinder is that it also provides ample opportunity for mumblechatter and there was plenty.

OMAHA was called at 0550

COT:

Most of the PAX had heard about the young boy, an eighth grader at Liberty Middle School named AJ Thompson, that drowned over the weekend. My son ran track with AJ and they had their homeroom together. They weren’t really friends, but were friendly and got along well. My wife and I helped my son process this loss the best that we could, and it impacted him more than I expected. This conversation led into my son sharing other things that he was feeling such as the weight of meeting academic expectations, managing time with being involved in activities, etc.

He was sharing all of this with us with two days left in the school year and had been carrying this stress…carrying this weight all year long. As parents I think we sometimes tell ourselves that kids are resilient – and they are – but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t struggling. Kids have their own mental battles too and it is important to check in on them to make sure they are coping appropriately.

I took the group out in prayer.

Aye!
