I woke up excited for this one! I was looking forward to getting back to The Cathouse on the site swap. It had been about five months since I’d had the opportunity to post here. It’s been the venue for some brutal beatdowns and great memories. A lot of the brutality (and great memories) occurred on Bernadette Ave so we’d be sure to pay her a visit this morning.
The morning began at 0515 where I welcomed the PAX to The Catamount Complex aka The Cathouse. I recited F3’s Five Core Principles:
- Free
- Open to all men
- Always outside
- Led in a rotating fashion
- Will end in a Circle of Trust
I informed the PAX that F3’s Mission Statement is to “plant, grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.”
We recited the Credo: “leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him.”
Lastly, I reminded the PAX that I am not a professional and to modify today’s beatdown as needed.
WARMORAMA
We completed a brief Warmorama in the parking lot consisting of:
- 15 SSH IC
- 10 Big Ones IC
- 15 Cherry Pickers IC
- 7 Absolutions (I said we’d do a handful…Animal House pointed out that 7 is more than one handful)
PRETHANG
We moseyed over to the base of the Bernadette hill, at the intersection of Bernadette Ave. and 45th Ave. We completed a ladder run up the hill. We stopped at the first light pole, completed 15 Maverick Merkins, then ran back down the hill. We then ran to the second light pole, completed 15 Maverick Merkins and then back down again. This was done until we reached the fourth and final light pole and returned down the hill.
THE THANG
For the Thang we divided into two groups. One group was running to the top of Bernadette Ave (yet again), then back down to push the second group. The other group completed a list of lower body exercises for the first rotation, upper body exercises for the second rotation, and core exercises for the third rotation. We were able to get through all of the rotations once and ran up Bernadette Ave three additional times during the Thang.
OMAHA was called at 0552. We didn’t want to leave Bernadette unhappy, so we all completed 10 Pickle Pushers IC before moseying back the shovel flags. All said and done, the PAX finished the beatdown with around two miles of movement.

COT:
I had a completely different COT planned for this morning, but decided that I was going to switch it up during the pre-run in light of the events of the morning. Farva had sent out a message shortly after 3:00am this morning that his family was awoken by the sounds of smoke detectors due to a fire that had started in their garage. Everyone was able to get out safely, but no doubt a very scary incident for his family and he mentioned hugging his family a bit closer.
During the pre-run some of us were discussing some of life’s frustrations. I can’t even remember everything that was discussed, but they were quickly referred to as “first world problems.” If I was in Farva’s place this morning, they were “problems” that would be so far out of my mind I would’ve forgotten to be frustrated with them. In the COT, I discussed being grateful for the things that we have in life. Despite some of the frustrations that we have in our lives, we are blessed to have the things that we do have in our lives and to not lose sight of the things that are really important.
Aye!
Boss Hogg
