Title: “Crushing the 3 C’s”
Total PAX: (25)
Q: G String
At 0515, G String welcomed the PAX to the F3, stating they found themselves at the Danger Zone. G String stated that F3 stands for fitness, followship, and faith. He covered 5 core principles – it’s free, open to all men, always outside, it’s led in a rotating fashion, and it ends in a circle of trust. He told them that we leave no man behind and no man where we found him. G String stated the Mission Statement of F3 – to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. He claimed to not be a professional and asked that PAX modify as necessary. He asked if there were any FNG’s and there was one.
Warm a Rama:
G String asked for everyone to circle up by the flags; however, after hearing just seconds of the grumbling complaints about the wind, he said F it, let’s go down to the field. Thanks to Rooney for lighting it up.
The group moseyed to the field and circled up down there on the south goal line. PS – it was just as windy and cold down there.
10 sun gods forward and backward
10 cherry pickers
10 big ones and tappy taps
G String had the entire group find 6 people of similar fitness levels. This created 4 different groups. He had asked that the group take their respective pile of colored cones and jog together to the other goal line, dropping a cone at every 10 yards. These cones would signify the rounds of exercises the group would complete as a team. In order to move to the next cone, the team was to complete the exercises on the cone and then either run a lap or complete 10 burpees each PAX.
Exercises on the cones were the same for each group, but randomly placed throughout the 100 yards. The group got to about the 80 or 90 yard marker when Omaha was called at 0552.
The group moseyed to the center of the field for some Sarpy slammers, NoR, and named the FNG.

I’m not perfect. I try hard to be the perfect dad and quite frankly I’m always going to be chasing that. Just last night, i crushed three C’s with my kids and felt the need to share with the group my failures in hopes that they can relate and think about their reactions in similar situations.
- Courage. I was out in the circle playing baseball with my oldest child and my two year old wanted to walk out and join us. She said “I play” in a way that was almost asking to come play with us bigger folks in the street. What a courageous act. I shut her down and said, “No, you’ll get hurt. Stay over there.”
- Creativity. We had a lazy dinner set up “picnic style” because we were so amped about the weather being nice and wanted to stay outside. During our dinner, the kids had a hard time sitting still and naturally were grabbing branches and making a fake fire. They excitedly said “Daddy, we’re building a fire and making smores!” I instantly turned the creativity down by saying “stop touching the branches. Your hands are getting dirty. Sit down and eat.”
- Curiosity. We’re getting ready for bed and my phone was on the counter. It had hundreds of notifications on the locked screen that my son was fiddling through and he came across an Amber Alert. The message appeared unlike the others and he was curious what it was. Instead of explaining to him what it was, I flipped to the “Don’t be messing with my phone. We have to brush our teeth and get ready for bed.”
These three moments, I failed royally. Learn from my mistakes as I hope to as well. Let the kids and the youth explore these three C’s rather than crushing them in the moment.
G String prayed us out. – Aye!
