Disclaimer: I am not a professional, modify as necessary. The exercises are simply a suggestion.

Warmarama: At the Catamount Complex, we run the hills. I searched the Berm area (Perhaps while on duty) for a hill that could compete with the Cat house’s Bernadette. We ran south on 168th street to Hartman Avenue and then east to the bottom of the hill. At the bottom of the hill, we performed the following exercises:

17 SSH

17 Cherry Pickers

17 Imperial Walkers

Pre-Thang: Nope…. we got right to business.

Thang:

2 team Grinder (Low Flow inspired…. Plug it!!)

We split into two teams. One team would run up Hartman Avenue hill to the top and do (5) Navy Seal Burpee’s then head back down while the other team would do the exercises on the sheet which were: (20) – Merkin’s , (20)- LBC’s IC, (20)- Ranger Merkin’s, (20)- Big Boy’s, (20)- Werkin’s, (20)- Flutter Kick’s IC, (20)- Diamond Merkin’s, (20)- Alt. Heel Touches IC, (20)- Alt. Shoulder Taps IC, (5)- Navy Seal Burpee’s. Rinse and repeat until Omaha is called. Omaha was called @ 5:46 and we headed back to the flags for M.O.M.

COT:

Last week while driving my kids to their numerous practices, I was listening to the radio and caught a segment on John Tesh that talked about “The New Night Shift”. Basically, this is the new phenomenon where we are always connected to work because of our phones. We find ourselves sending and reading emails when we should be focusing on other things, like our Concentra. As a result, we find ourselves working the “night shift” even if we don’t usually work at night. I don’t typically have this issue with my line of work, but I do find myself on my phone when I should be focusing on my family. I have become so used to my watch vibrating with notifications that I actually thought I felt a vibration notification when I wasn’t even wearing my watch. I challenge everyone to put the phones down, take off the smart watches, and focus on your families after work. Work will be there tomorrow.
